I read that MDHearingAid has the best hearing aids. Is that true?

It has a great name that leads you to believe that it would be a "doctor prescribed" device.   However, testing that was completed that compared all of  the inexpensive mail order hearing aids showed the MD hearing aid coming in last place.  I would advise you to steer away from any mail order product, but especially don't throw your money away on this device.   Research shows your best results will be obtained by visiting a professional and working with their expertise to accurately diagnose and treat your hearing loss. 

No.  It has been a few years, I think, but there was a study done on several "magazine" hearing aids, of which MDHearingAid was one, to determine how well they were able to match prescriptive targets.  And if I recall the article correctly, MDHearingAid actually didn't meet those targets anywhere near as well as hearing aids from the big six.  You would have to do some digging to find the article, but I'm sure you can turn it up.  As I recall, MDHearingAid was allowed to rebut the article, as well, and had some explanations for why their devices did poorly, but nevertheless, even giving them the benefit of the doubt, you have to wonder about consistency.

Online sales of hearing devices will never result in the best experience.  Even if you purchased a device with the latest technology you still need an experienced Hearing Healthcare Professional to make your experience successful.  As a professional when i look at the hearing hearing aids on MD hearing aid the first thing that comes to mind is how outdated they look.

The best hearing aid is the one that meets your lifestyle and needs and is fit using evidence based practices.  With any device, a qualified provider should have equipment to take measurements of your ear with and without the hearing aid (real ear measurements and or speech mapping).  Any device that is fit with proper verification is in my opinion,  the best device.

No.It’s not true.  Among hearing aids with comparable technology I believe there is no “best“ hearing aid. Those hearing aids do not have the same level of technology and research behind them.  The delivery model  they use will never result in the best results.

What company would say they had anything other than the best? Physicians are not engineers nor acousticians but they do want to make money.  So this company is physician owned and the aids are one size fits all. Granted they are cheap but still mail order. I am sure it will fill a niche but would not be comparable to well fit well adjusted digital devices.

I do not think that they have any research or studies to back up their claims as to why they designed their hearing aids in certain ways.  I would not fit my patients with such hearing devices that has no scientific platform to build the products on.  A hearing device that is not custom, or tailor to your exact loss may do more harm in the long run.

I think that it depends on what you are looking for.  Are you looking for function?  Are you looking for features?  Are you looking for price only?  I think they are a very basic aid and actually more of an amplifier than aid.  While that might be acceptable and actually usable by some people with more of a flat loss, I really think that you get what you pay for.  If someone would weigh in the technology of most of the manufacturers available and the personalized service from the provider, there are much more cost efficient options available.  If you are looking for lowest price only, then you really don't value your hearing much.  Money shouldn't be more important than quality of life.

I certainly do not view them as the best.  Typically, I consider Widex, Starkey, ReSound, Oticon or Signia to be way out in front of MDHearing.  Best to always have your hearing evaluated by a licensed practioner before choosing a hearing aid.  Over the Counter aids are really more of a one size fits all but in the world of better hearing - each person is an individual and it does not make good sense to treat your ears with a one size fits all solution! Internet sales have made purchasing a lot of things easier but easier is not always best.
