I have a cookie bite hearing loss since the age of 31, so loss across the conversation frequencies. Without hearing aids I would very much struggle to work/socialise to any degree. I've had these for nearly six years. They are the only truly waterproof aids which is why I got them and they have been wonderful for watersports and exercising. I've had to have them repaired several times as they stopped working after a short period of static - at the nearly three year mark, then again at 4, 5 years. Each time Siemens have just replaced the whole aid. As I moved from where I bought them, I managed to find a local audiologist who could send them for repair which costs about $400 AUD each time. They cost 5K USD to start with and I estimate I've spent close to 2K AUD on repairs. I've had loaner hearing aids in the periods while they were being repaired and there are now four generations of technology since mine. The hearing quality is better on the newer ones but they feel flimsy and are moisture effected rendering them not suitable to my active lifestyle, therefore I am hanging on to my old ones as long as I can get them serviced.

The hearing aid cost me a lifeguarding position due to the poor reliability. They power off when getting wet due to the battery, and instead of Siemens fixing the issue, it has been discontinued. They shut down after getting any source of water on them, and take several mins to get them to power back on. They are 100 percent waterproof, and they don’t shock me, but that’s about it. I can lifeguard perfectly fine with them, but not swim, which defies the purpose of them. Siemens has been notified tons of times with them, and they have not been fixed.
