Hearing aid reviews are fundamentally different from reviews for most other consumer electronic products. The reason is because individual factors, like degree of hearing loss, have a profound effect one's success and overall satisfaction with the product. When purchasing a hearing aid, you'll need to consider more than just your hearing outcome. Hearing aids are manufactured with varying levels of quality; some hearing aids are extremely durable, while others suffer frequent breakage. Battery life also varies between models, and manufacturer predictions of battery life are often optimistic. By collecting feedback from consumers, we can get a better idea of real world product durability and battery life... Continue reading

I was initially very pleased with the fitting by a professional. It was a massive step forward from my previous HA's. But he seemed to hit a wall and not be able to program them as well as the technical specification suggest they are capable. I had a 4 year guarantee and so did not touch them until the guarantee had almost expired. After only 2 days learning how to use Connexx and programming them myself I have made an enormous improvement. I redid the fitting from zero, changed the fitting algorithm and fine-tuned all 6 programs. I had been considering buying the latest generation but with the results I have got I no longer see the need. So finally I am very satisfied with my Pure Micon 7mi HA's.
1. Audiologists have not been great with programming. Need to retest and reprogram periodically based on user experience and as hearing changes-- more so than with in the ear models. 2. The angle/direction from which the sound is coming makes a significant difference in the quality of reception-- far more so than with in the ear models. 3. Have recently encountered the odd experience of hearing sounds from a distance (a room or two away) better than close by sounds. 4. The durability, reliability and comfort of this hearing aid are outstanding. I have encountered no mechanical problems over several years of use. Comfort is outstanding. Significantly outperforms in the ear models for durability, reliability and comfort. Exterior is very sturdy. 5. If your hair covers your ears, be careful-- easy to dislodge the aid if you touch your hair. Same thing with glasses-- be careful that you do not dislodge your aid when putting on/removing glasses. 6. Need to remove the aids when having hair cut. 7. Not noticeable or looks like Bluetooth, a big plus. Summary: Sturdy, well-engineered, reliable and comfortable, significantly outperforming in-the-ear models on these dimensions. Cosmetically an improvement versus in the ear models. More difficult to program than in-the-ear models, so hearing quality may not be improved. This aid requires the audiologist to do more, so make sure that the audiologist is up to the task. Finding a patient, highly skilled audiologist is crucial with this aid. Easier to dislodge behind the ear aids than in the ear aids: be careful when combing or touching hair or when donning/removing eyeglasses. Must remove when getting hair cut, unlike in the ear aids.
Well worth the wait. Glad I pursued (help from my wife) with hearing tests and thanked the VA in providing me with up to date hearing aid (both ears). Only had them for two months and enjoying them. Only wish the batteries would last more than a week. Your assistance with free batteries will help tremendously. Thank you.
