Starkey 3 Series Reviews

Hearing aid reviews are fundamentally different from reviews for most other consumer electronic products. The reason is because individual factors, like degree of hearing loss, have a profound effect one's success and overall satisfaction with the product. When purchasing a hearing aid, you'll need to consider more than just your hearing outcome ... Continue reading

The hearing aids do a pretty good job with amplifying back ground noises (voices included). My big complaint is they do a poor job with face to face conversations, while on the phone and when in meetings where I really need them the most!

When they are serviced they work well. I have trouble doing any more than replacing the battery. I’m 99 years old. My eyesight and dexterity have seen better days.

I work in a very noisy environment including a hospital emergency room and ICU. There are alarms sounding constantly. I can hear everything EXCEPT human speech. I hear the sounds of my own footsteps and my own voice (too loud), I can hear myself chewing gum, I can hear gears in my car that I never knew were there but when it comes to people's voices forget it. I have to remove them each time I use my stethoscope. I still have a very hard time in one-on-on conversations if there is the slightest background noise and in a restaurant forget it. I used to play guitar but I can't hear the instrument even with my hearing aids in. I have worn Starkey in-the-canals for 4 years and now I am thinking of buying a pair of Livio AI (2400?) for around $5000. ($7000 minus $2000 trade in for my current pair). This time I will definitely NOY keep them unless my hearing is significantly improved.

I would say I am still trying to get help and get a cochcular implant because my hearing aids do not help me anymore very much.

Dissatisfied generally, I thought there would be much more improvement in my hearing, but, all that's improved, is I can hear birdsong and wind noise, prior to using them, I could only pick up vowels, missing the consenants completely.

****This is a review for the Starkey Wi Series i90. These hearing aids were purchased seven years ago, and cannot be adjusted to my current hearing loss, so a current rating is not very accurate. However, I have had problems with them since day one. One of the hearing aids would sometimes just not work, even with a new battery. Over time that one would work sometimes, but not others. I spoke to the audiologist about whether I should return the problematic one, but we never did that. After the aids were out of warranty, an audiologist was trying to clean one of them, and broke it, requiring that it be sent back to the manufacturer. I was required to pay the $260 fee. Before these hearing aids I had Phonaks for 5 years, and never had any issues with them. I would never buy Starkeys again.

I compare the customer service of PHS to that of the gold standard - Nordstrom's. I have been a patient at PHS for many years. Even though my earlier hearing aids were primitive by today's standards, Dr. Gyl and her staff worked with me, trying several different types until we found one that worked. Today, my Starkey in-the-canal digital devices provide crystal clear hearing. The accompanying remote device allows me to change settings including volume that would have otherwise required an office visit. Tony at PHS can even make certain adjustments over the phone. I had a question about one of the functions and Vivianna in the lab researched the answer and called me right back. Whether you call it "5-star" or "top shelf" - it doesn't get any better. I would not be able to function in my job without the people, products, and service of PHS.

I was trying to volume up by my professional but it had nothing to work on clear and natural sound. So I prefer to use large hearing aid to hear speech well.

I don't realize I am wearing them and they were very easy to get used to. I also like how they blend in, my grandchildren did not even notice them for a few day. I am still adjusting to hearing fans and wind blowing along with the the features for crowds and noisy locations, I have experimented with the volume controls and that seems helpful.

I have a poor quality in hearing in my senior meetings and noisy restaurants, at a table I can hear the person across or next to me ,but not the person next to the one opposite,I just feel like I dont want to socialize anymore .

I've been enjoying these aids since I got them. It is a vast improvement from the last one. It has changed my life immensely. My personal favorite is the blue tooth setup and remote control. It is amazing on the features which I using daily. It's a joy to use especially listening to music and talking on the phone. The programs can be set for various environments and they work very well. The only annoying part is that the batteries only last about 4-5 days so I carry extra batteries with me all of the time.

I had two pair of Starkey Hearing Aids and then purchased a different brand only to go back to Starkey again. They seem to be the best for me.

Getting interference - sounds like tv or radio noise in the unit. The user doesn't hear it because their hearing is so bad. The sounds can be heard throughout the room by those that have normal hearing. Where do you start to isolate this problem?

Some i110 are labeled 3 series, some are not. Why?

I have had hearing aids all my life im 33 and seems like some hearing aids work better than others. I currently have 3 hearing aids 2 for left and 1 for right the right one i cant hardly hear out of the aid itself and it works when it wants to other wise it makes a screeching sound all the time. my left one seems way to loud and wind bothers my hearing when outside and in noisey places i hear almost nothing but static or just completey complications with the speech issues reading lips is hard work as it is i have moderate to severe hearing loss i figured the hearing aids would be more like my oticon hearing aids now they worked so good and canceled the wind and loud noise issues. and i could stream them to my cell phone. but the current aids which are the 3 series seems to pick up more noise than comfort of the ears. ive probably been with almost all hearing aid companys in my life time i like starkey dont get me wrong but they could learn a lesson on how to adjust them correctly to fit hearing loss rather than to pick up all noises. i want clearaty and to be able to actually understand speech again. ive had my hearing tested it hasnt changed over the years been the same. but certain places tell me oh its in your mind that you only hear noises through the aid that arent there lol i guess that mean i hear the wind when im inside watching tv. lol. but i do hope to soon get one of the new aids on the market either through starkey or oticon they are probably the best companies out there acutually willing to work with their patients unlike beltone and miracle ear. dont go with them cause they tend to want only money for hearing aids that dont work. the resound i tried i couldnt hear a thing at least with starkey and oticon i can hear but slighty dont hear ph and ch and fh cause to me they all sound the same through my hearing aids. for the loved one who is in  need of hearing aids i would suggest those two companies and not only that if you have low income they work with you on payment plans and also they have the starkey foundations hear now program its cheap and they are top quality i got my hearing aids almost 5 years ago through the hear now program and i love being able to hear but i think its almost time for new ones. the program is very helpful and they are kind caring and sweet people and they work with each patient individually to help them.
