Unitron Stride Reviews

Hearing aid reviews are fundamentally different from reviews for most other consumer electronic products. The reason is because individual factors, like degree of hearing loss, have a profound effect one's success and overall satisfaction with the product. When purchasing a hearing aid, you'll need to consider more than just your hearing outcome ... Continue reading

The hearing aid failed completely after less than one year, and was completely rebuilt (under warranty) by the manufacturer. After many adjustments by the audiologist, I still cannot understand most dialogue in TV movies and some conversations with my wife in a quiet environment (no background noise). With background noise, such as in a grocery store, it is very difficult to understand any conversations. My previous hearing aid was a Siemens Lotus 12P, a very inexpensive ($110) analog device with which I could hear just as well as with the Unitron Stride P. The only improvement the Unitron has provided is feedback cancellation. I only have one hearing aid because I am totally deaf in the left hear following surgery to remove an acoustic neuroma.

They still need adjusting. Treble is still too high. Music seems to be higher then the voice.

I am very pleased with my new hearing aids. They greatly improve my hearing with students in a grade school environment where there is a vast range of hearing situations. For example, I can now understand the children with soft voices in the classrooms, whereas, with my prior hearing aids, I had dificulty hearing soft voices.

I would tell others that these instruments have made a great deal of difference. I no longer experience tinnitus like I did without them when I have them on. The only drawback that I can think of is persistent itching in the canals of both ears when I wear them.

Big help - I'm not a lip reader. Otherwise I guess a lot when trying to hear.

Good experience with this model hearing aid. I am a first time user. Easy to understand the features and has easily up-gradable software for additional features

Having had several years experience wearing three kinds of hearing aids, my opinion is that the patient is very unlikely to regain much of the hearing he/she once had. Still, in order to function effectively in society even a slight improvement can be valuable. Whether the price charged is fair and justified depends on each individual patient.

I believe I was your provider for these hearing aids. If that is the case, let me see what I can do to improve your situation. Only a portion of what you paid is for the hearing aids, the rest is for my services to improve your hearing using those hearing aids. So, if you're having problems, please let me know what I can do to help.

Right now my hearing aids need adjustment for high pitched chirps or clicks when listening to TV voices, and often I can't pick up understanding everything being said. Need some base tones to balance off the treble sounds, and a little more volume with the automatic setting. If the volume is turned up then extraneous sounds come on and interfere with audio comfort and enjoyment. In normal environments the automatic mode has not been loud enough for me to hear some softer voices. I am hoping some adjustments will change things for the better. My earlier Phonak aids were more comfortable to wear although they were no longer able to let me hear speech clearly.

Overall, I'm very happy with these hearing aids. They are very comfortable, and the sound quality is good. Some adjustments were needed to get it right, but I have a tough hearing problem.

I'm dealing with a profound loss of hearing. This is my second set of aids, the first set lasted 8 years. I am blown away by the advance in hearing aid technology in the 8 years since I got my first set. I'll never hear like I did before but this is very close. I enjoy all kinds of music, with these aids the sound is fantastic. I very pleased!

What is cost for a STRIDE 700 and 800 ?

I have just had my ITE 700 a few days and hate them and this after a very negative experience with the 500 of this Stride series with all sorts of issues but mainly the auto noise is useless as it kills off sounds you want to hear and is not too good at music either and treats it as noise so it becomes and ear plug! What gets me mad is the first 500 I got for one ear was perfect it was for the left ear and I could understand and hear on my right even in the car with the windo down at 100k's when I got the second one for the right they did not work together and attempts to fix this made it worse till I sent them back as unsatisfactory and not fit for purpose I was really annoyed when the rep came out and set them as plain Jane hearing aids with no features but attempts to get the get the directional microphones to do what they were supposed to do left me cold so I ordered and received the 700's as a pair and similar problems are noted..TV news readers voices get clipped or hashed or just excessive hiss after each word. I used to have the NEXT 8's which were good but had limits in quite and excessive noise was not dealt with too well but the general purpose they were good but everything is loud and the best feature was shock attenuation and wind noise was excellent. At this rate I will get rid of the 700's and go to NEXT 16's for the extra channels and put up with the limitations but far superior hearing quality than the Stride 700's but how can this be with a better chip and basic feature set that if they did what it said on the tin would have gladdened my heart and made my partner very happy. I think the 700's are over rated and another annoyance in the teleocoil is a distinct buzz which is just not good enough as is the poor mouse shock resistance it makes loud mouse sound like crinkling glass again not impressive. While the 700's are not expensive depending on your point of view the value is not there. I really want the surround sound pick up and speech focus but I am not going there based on experience so far...promises a lot but underwhelms. Has anyone had a positive experience with Stride 700's? All the best Jonathon Australia
