MoreWhile entering boot camp in 2002, I failed my hearing test. After numerous sessions with the audiologist for retests, I can remember thinking, "that seems like a awesome job". Fortunately, I was allowed to stay in the military and was able to complete my obligation of 4 successful years as a Security Forces team leader and Scout Sniper team leader during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
With audiology always staying in the back of my mind, in 2006 I earned my Massage Therapy license and started my own Massage Practice while attending school. As I was in the process of earning my degree in Exercise Science I had to make a decision of becoming a Personal Trainer, Exercise Physiologist, or shock my friends and family and pursue a career in Audiology. After numerous conversations with a family friend who is an audiologist, the decision was made.
I sold my business of nearly 6 years to enroll in the U of I Audiology program. I haven't regret the decision for a second. I was successful during my time in the military because of my ability to interact with people and solve problems which naturally translate to the field of audiology.
I specialize in complicated hearing losses that are difficult to treat. I strive to always be on the forefront of new hearing technologies and treatments to ensure that my patients always have the best.

My experience with Clifford Olson was excellent. He is knowledgable, caring, patient and gentle. Those are all qualities I value and appreciate in any medical practitioner. Would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone. His office is light and bright and easily accessible. There is not one word of criticism I have for the visits I had with him. He took care of my issue with efficiency and expertise. Thank you Dr. Olson for your time and energy. Most appreciated.
Living with hearing loss for over forty years,I am pretty versed in hearing loss, the aides used to help the loss, and providers that issue the aides. As a consumer I expect 2 things. 1. Walk in my Shoes . 2. Any job worth doing is worth doing well.So do it well. Dr. Olson has asked all the right questions, accessing my past frustrations ,current situations and needs. He used the tools that all my past audiologist have not used to help get him get to that assessment. Hearing loss is not a guesstimate, it can be measured and your aides tweaked to provide the best service from your equipment. As far as doing a job well done; he has succeeded. He has perfected my hearing loss with instruments that virtually have no feed back, and has enabled me to engage in understandable conversationin restaurant setting, family gathering and theaters once again. So if you are avoiding a social situation because of hearing loss call Dr Olson at Applied Hearing. He will help you through the stress as he walks with you, he does a great job and he does it very ,very well.
