I am 54 years old and I have hearing loss from working around loud machinery most of my life. Like most people with hearing loss, I put off seeking help for a number of years. When I did start to consider hearing aids, I did some research online and there were so many misleading websites and false reviews paid for by some of the less reputable companies that I was becoming very skeptical. Thankfully I stumbled across Dr. Olson's YouTube channel. I watched a number of his videos and it quickly became evident to me that he was both highly knowledgeable and highly qualified. His videos walked me through his methodology and philosophy on treating hearing loss. His videos also gave me a thorough knowledge of the various hearing aid types, manufacturers and models. I decided to make an appointment to have my hearing tested by Dr. Olson and we spent a great deal of time testing my hearing through a couple of different methods. Upon completion, Dr. Olson presented me with multiple options pertaining to hearing aid hardware. After educating me on the pros and cons of each model and type, I was able to make an informed decision on what would work best for me. I have had my hearing aids now for about 6 months and I can honestly say that I wish I had pursued getting them sooner. What makes Dr. Olson exceptional is that he properly and thoroughly educates people about every aspect of treating hearing loss. When a consumer is educated and informed and they are given good options to choose from, they will almost always make the right decision. Dr. Olson doesn't sell you anything, he educates you and let's you decide. I trusted my hearing loss treatment to him and I will continue to do so without reservation going forward. I highly recommend you make an appointment and get to know him.
Read moreI found Applied Hearing Solutions while watching a YouTube video. I was impressed by Dr. Clifford Olson's enthusiasm and passion for his profession. I have been receiving the BEST hearing care from Dr. Olson and have been treated wonderfully by his entire staff. Read moreI highly recommend Applied Hearing solutions. I found them after viewing the many excellent hearing educational videos on YouTube by Dr. Olson. My experience has been exceptional, from the real ear measurement, device selection, and instruction, and also the follow-up care. Much gratitude to the entire team and especially Dr. Altus who provided my care.
Read moreThis is my son's account but my testimony. I can tell you that Dr. Cliff is one of a kind he truly cares about his clients. I have been to many other Audiologists and they put the hearing aid in and program it to what the computer says and that is it I have been taken for many $$$ I have heard don't expect to understand more than 5 words out of 10 being said, 3500+ 1 hearing aid I did not keep. " This is what the computer says you need !!! " Dr. Cliff listens to what you tell him he goes above and beyond to help you hear. I now can actually carry on a conversation with other people I have only one ear that works and it only has 35% word understanding but can tell you I my understanding now is phenomenal I don't even have to look at some of the people to see what they are saying. Dr. Cliff has a God given Gift. Compassion and drive to help people coupe and thrive with their hearing loss. I am so thankful that I have found someone that TRULY CARES Thank you so much Dr. Cliff Shawn Sigdestad
Read moreYou've already done the research and have 3 - 5 of the major hearing aid manufacturers selected. With little difficulty you can find a 'hearing aid' retailer on just about every corner in the Phoenix market. Which one? What's the difference? In the hearing devices, not much. The real difference is in the quality of the doctors and staff. Even the big box stores can 'dispense' hearing devices. I wanted new hearing aids with all the new advances, AND a doctor that understood the differences and would take the time to explain to me, and adjust to my specific hearing needs. I found that with Applied Hearing Solutions. I just recently purchased my second set with the help of Dr. Bryce Altus. He melds all the high tech equipment with a calm, intelligent explanation that I can understand. Always patient, plenty of time to ask questions, and opinions. Admin staff? Extremely professional, gracious, and excited that you're there. They never fail to text and telephone reminders prior to every appointment. Don't waste you time, call Applied Hearing Solutions and get treated like a paying customer!

MoreWhile entering boot camp in 2002, I failed my hearing test. After numerous sessions with the audiologist for retests, I can remember thinking, "that seems like a awesome job". Fortunately, I was allowed to stay in the military and was able to complete my obligation of 4 successful years as a Security Forces team leader and Scout Sniper team leader during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
With audiology always staying in the back of my mind, in 2006 I earned my Massage Therapy license and started my own Massage Practice while attending school. As I was in the process of earning my degree in Exercise Science I had to make a decision of becoming a Personal Trainer, Exercise Physiologist, or shock my friends and family and pursue a career in Audiology. After numerous conversations with a family friend who is an audiologist, the decision was made.
I sold my business of nearly 6 years to enroll in the U of I Audiology program. I haven't regret the decision for a second. I was successful during my time in the military because of my ability to interact with people and solve problems which naturally translate to the field of audiology.
I specialize in complicated hearing losses that are difficult to treat. I strive to always be on the forefront of new hearing technologies and treatments to ensure that my patients always have the best.

When we moved from CA to AZ, we were concerned that we would not be able to find the kind of excellent care we had had in CA. Happily our CA Audiologist recommended Applied Hearing and we have been thrilled with our care under Dr. Olson. Dr. Cliff is in the top 1% of his field. He continually maintains and updates his education on both the medical and technology fronts and to ensure his expertise on available and upcoming solutions to hearing impairment. He's also a very personable guy who listens carefully to assure that he understands the nuances of his patients' challenges and desired outcomes. Thanks Dr. Cliff!
A real doctor of audiology, not a hearing aid salesman looking to make a buck. Dr. Cliff is honest, friendly, always professional. Incredibly up to date on all the latest in technology and treatment options for hearing loss. An ethical healthcare provider who truly cares about his patients' well-being and is devoted to making a positive impact on their lives by providing the best effective treatment available. He's very empathetic and an excellent listener who never makes you feel rushed during appointments.
Dr. Le did a wonderful job. She is easy to talk with and my hearing tests were very productive for my hearing.
He truly wants his patients to leave his office experiencing sound in a way that had been lost so many years ago.
Dr. Olson is AMAZING! His sense of obligation to you as a patient is without peer. He’s caring, brilliant and FUNNY. You need to increase the “star” count to have a classification for him!

My experience with Clifford Olson was excellent. He is knowledgable, caring, patient and gentle. Those are all qualities I value and appreciate in any medical practitioner. Would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone. His office is light and bright and easily accessible. There is not one word of criticism I have for the visits I had with him. He took care of my issue with efficiency and expertise. Thank you Dr. Olson for your time and energy. Most appreciated.
Living with hearing loss for over forty years,I am pretty versed in hearing loss, the aides used to help the loss, and providers that issue the aides. As a consumer I expect 2 things. 1. Walk in my Shoes . 2. Any job worth doing is worth doing well.So do it well. Dr. Olson has asked all the right questions, accessing my past frustrations ,current situations and needs. He used the tools that all my past audiologist have not used to help get him get to that assessment. Hearing loss is not a guesstimate, it can be measured and your aides tweaked to provide the best service from your equipment. As far as doing a job well done; he has succeeded. He has perfected my hearing loss with instruments that virtually have no feed back, and has enabled me to engage in understandable conversationin restaurant setting, family gathering and theaters once again. So if you are avoiding a social situation because of hearing loss call Dr Olson at Applied Hearing. He will help you through the stress as he walks with you, he does a great job and he does it very ,very well.
