Read moreDr. Folmar has been great. He is very careful to listen and understand any concerns and issues I had with my hearing loss and use of hearing aids. He is quite responsive to any problems that have come up. He also was very thoughtful in working with me to optimize the cost of the hearing aids in only suggesting devices that had functions that I needed and not to "over sell" me.

Read moreI’ve built my practice around a conservative yet no-nonsense approach to diagnosing and treating hearing loss and tinnitus. We use state-of-the art diagnostic equipment to assess the different parts of the ear and hearing.
For example, Peninsula Hearing Services provides tinnitus treatment using the Neuromonics neuromodulation system, a state-of-the art treatment for this condition. As a former researcher for a major hearing aid manufacturer, I’m also well-experienced with fitting hearing aids. I regularly test and review new hearing aids and only prescribe devices that my patients have had successful experiences with. Newly fitted hearing aids are adjusted to each patient’s specific hearing loss using an advanced technology called real-ear measurement technology. This technology ensures that every patient is hearing their best from the first day they receive their device, not after multiple office visits.
At the end of each visit I provide a brief summary and “game-plan” of next steps to restore better ear and hearing health. You can expect me to work efficiently to understand the specific nature of your concerns. My office offers short wait times for appointments and we accept all major health insurance carriers.

MoreI’m Dr. John Folmar, AuD, the owner of Peninsula Hearing Services in Burlingame. Many patients ask about my clinical philosophy and how I can help with their ear and hearing concerns. First of all, I’m a graduate of Northwestern University with over 20 years of experience practicing audiology. I’ve seen the concern and even distress imposed by hearing loss and tinnitus and how these medical issues can affect the quality of life. My patients find me to be an experienced and empathetic practitioner who uses the newest technologies available to help them hear better and feel better as soon as possible.
