Hearing loss resources for Tulsa residents

The Hearing Tracker team has pulled together the following resources to help you find support in your local Tulsa community.

Tulsa Hearing Helpers

Tulsa Hearing Helpers (THH) is a support group for people dealing with hearing loss later in life. Meetings involve learning more about hearing loss and how to live the life you want. While THH is targeted at people with hearing loss later in life, ALL are welcome. Family and friends are particularly encouraged to attend. They typically have real-time subtitles projected on the wall for easy reading to help those who can't hear the speaker. Assistive devices and a sign language interpreter are available upon request.

Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services (DRS)

The Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services (DRS) advertises job prospects and promotes healthy life and economic flexibility by helping disadvantaged persons in The Sooner State resolve the barriers to success in their work, education and home life.

There are five different departments:

  • Vocational Rehabilitation
  • Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired
  • Disability Determination
  • Oklahoma School for the Blind
  • Oklahoma School for the Deaf

Such organizations provide hundreds of programs to help Tulsa residents transition to happier, more stable lives.

Sertoma Hearing Aid Recycling Program (SHARP)

Are you aware that many older people with hearing loss have limited incomes and cannot find financial assistance to access hearing aids? SHARP is a non-profit organization sponsored by Sertoma community groups. It receives donations of used hearing aids and delivers these hearing aids for a one-time fee to eligible low-income individuals. Used hearing aids donated to SHARP are tax-deductible.
