I first got my hearing aids when I was a teenager. I never wore them because they didn't seem to help and they were uncomfortable. But as my hearing started worsening slightly, I decided to go get them fixed so I could use them just when I needed to. I met with Allison who gave me a new hearing test, went over my results with me, and adjusted my hearing aids for my currently hearing level. Then she did THE MAGIC. Turns out, the reason my hearing aids weren't very useful was BECAUSE I was only wearing them when I really needed them. But then when I'd put them on my ears/brain were suddenly flooded with all that noise and got overwhelmed and so they didn't seem to help. Allison asked me to wear them 10-15 hours a day to re-train my brain to ignore those sounds and be able to choose what to focus on. THANK YOU! I didn't realize how much sound I was missing. The first few days were actually a bit disorienting because there were all these sounds I didn't normally hear. I would get distracted by the AC turning on, the fan, the sound of knives and forks on plates, even my own breathing! Haha! I felt like Spider-Man with too much sensory input. Now I can hear my friends even when I'm in a crowded restaurant, I went to a convention and had no trouble hearing the speaker, and music sounds AMAZING now. Thank you! Thank you! THANK YOU! It was funny. I took my hearing aids out for the day and suddenly realized how dim everything sounded. But that's good! I've now adjusted to being able to hear normally! The fact that everything sounds dim without my hearing aids now stands out to me! Not the other way around with quiet being "normal" and normal sounds being "too much." Thank you again! Love, A very happy customer.

The team at Austin Hearing Aid Center knows how important good hearing is to stay connected with your friends, family, and co-workers. Hearing loss often occurs gradually and may first be noticed by those closest to you. An early indicator may be that you are “hearing, but not understanding.” Conversations may seem loud enough, and yet, not easy to understand, particularly when in noisy environments.

"I am happy to be able to join Austin Hearing Aid Center on a part-time basis, following a 40-year career as an audiologist in both clinical settings and as a private practice business owner at Lakeview Hearing Center in Marble Falls. I retired in 2018 and I find I miss many aspects of my career as an audiologist. I look forward to the opportunity to work together with you in finding the best hearing solutions for your individual lifestyle. Every person is unique and there is no one approach that works for all. My private practice model was very people-centered and that made it rewarding for me. I have found a great fit for that approach with Austin Hearing Aid Center.
I have known Bill Rudolph for many years and we both truly care about our clients and their communication needs. He has kindly welcomed me into his practice and I know we will all work well together. Although I will be working part-time, we all work as a team to meet your needs as they arise."
