Kristen Decelles is a board certified Doctor of Audiology, specializing in the diagnosis, treatment and management of hearing-related-disorders. She has special expertise in educating patients and the public about conditions that predispose people to hearing loss, such as: diabetes and cardiovascular disease so they can receive diagnosis and treatment earlier. Dr. Decelles is an advocate and educator on the prevention of hearing loss.
Dr. Decelles completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders at Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL. She then attended the University of South Florida, Tampa, and earned her Doctorate in Audiology. Her doctoral project was titled, “Feasibility of Using the N1-P2 Complex to Assess Temporal Resolution in Older Adults”, which prepared her to better understand the small changes which occur in the aging auditory system, enabling her to provide better quality of care to the growing adult population. She completed her residency in audiology at the Miami (FL) VA Healthcare System.
Dr. Decelles was featured as one of the top audiologists in the United States in 2012 by The Hearing Review, and she and her team earned a Gold Medal as “Best of 2013” for Hearing Services in the Tampa Tribune Readers’ Choice Awards. Dr. Decelles is regularly sought out for her expertise at hearing health related events. She is featured in several articles in the Tampa Bay media including: the Clearwater Gazette, Florida Health Care News and Healthy Cells Magazine. She contributed the forward for the book 4 Ears 4 Eyes by Cynthia Dixon.
Dr. Decelles has been a practicing audiologist in Tampa Bay since 2005, with specialized experience in comprehensive diagnostic evaluations for both adults and children, performing vestibular (balance) testing and in the management and treatment of hearing loss through amplification. She now leads the Hearing Services Department at St. Luke’s Cataract & Laser Institute, focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of hearing loss in adults.
Dr. Decelles resides in Tampa with her husband Scott and two children.
