Eargo 5 is a rechargeable hearing aid that is ordered online, or over the phone, and delivered to your door. Unlike traditional hearing aids, no in-office visit or in-person hearing test is required. The Eargo 5 product bundle costs $2,950 and includes two completely-in-canal (CIC) hearing aids, a charger, a 2-year warranty, and lifetime customer support. Eargo 5 is intended to help people with mild to moderately-severe high-frequency hearing loss.

Highlights of Eargo 5

  • The smallest Eargo hearing aid available
  • Redesigned petal tips with built-in wax filters
  • New Sound Match™ technology offers hearing test via Eargo app
  • Additional fine tuning for listening environments
  • New inductive charging
  • Quicker charging compared to previous generations
  • In-field “upgradeable” feature

Connectivity and streaming

Like Eargo’s previous hearing aids, Eargo 5 does not support streaming audio from Bluetooth-enabled devices.  If you do receive a phone call while wearing Eargo, you would simply hold the phone to your ear and take the call as you normally would. Eargo 5 is an “open-fitting” hearing aid, meaning your ear canal is not sealed off by the device, so there is a risk of acoustic feedback whenever an object (like a phone) gets too close to your ear. It may help to hold the phone at an angle or slight distance from the ear to minimize feedback.

Sound Match

Sound Match is a new feature in Eargo 5. After completing a 10-minute tone-based hearing test using your Eargo devices, Sound Match creates a unique sound profile for each hearing aid—to better meet your individual hearing needs. As the hearing test is conducted through the hearing aids themselves, the results will reflect your individual ear shape as well as your selected ear tips. Once you’ve completed Sound Match™, the app provides a “normal” program from which any other program changes are based.

Eargo App

The new Eargo App includes Sound Match™ technology, which tests your hearing aid provides personalized amplification.

The Eargo App

With Eargo 5, you can now use the app as a remote control for muting your hearing aids, and changing listening programs, volume, tone, and background noise level. You can also change listening programs by tapping your ear. As with their previous models, product support is provided for the lifetime of the hearing aid. With Eargo 5, customer support can be accessed via the app, over the phone, or via online chat. You can schedule an appointment with an Eargo hearing professional via the app at any time.  Eargo also provides “field upgrades” to the charger and hearing aids, which means your Eargo 5 devices may receive future software enhancements.

Linear amplification

Eargo hearing instruments provide linear amplification, which is a departure from what most modern digital, programmable hearing aids provide.  Linear amplifiers do not compress (limit) sound variably across input levels.  This means, Eargo hearing aids produce a constant volume boost across low-level (soft) and mid-level sound inputs, and sound clipping for very loud input sounds (to limit over-amplification).  Numerous studies through the years have indicated that hearing aid users prefer digital compression over linear amplification. There has also been a great deal of advancement in the algorithms underlying modern compression amplification. However, that is not to say that linear hearing aids cannot provide hearing benefit, or that they cannot be acoustically comfortable.

Customer support and warranty

Eargo provides lifetime professional support for its hearing devices. Support is provided via the phone or smart phone app (depending on model chosen) by Hearing Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) at the company who can answer your questions and recommend sound settings. All Eargo hearing instruments come with a 45-day full-refund policy.  So, if for whatever reason you are not satisfied with the Eargo product, you can return it without a cost to you.

Eargo financing

Eargo provides an option to finance your hearing aid purchase through Ally Lending over 12 or 24 months with interest rates ranging from 0% to 29.99% APR. Before purchasing with the financing option, be sure to read this article, by Laura Wadsten at The Capitol Forum, in which Wadsten raises some concerns about the financing option and accuses Eargo of slow-walking customer service requests within its 45-day return window. HearingTracker has not independently verified these claims.

Iterative improvements

Through the years the company has continued to improve its signature CIC form factor, making it smaller and improving the “off-the-shelf” fit of the instruments. For example, Eargo continues to tweak their eartips to provide an open fit while helping to ensure comfort and good sound quality for a wide range of ear sizes and shapes as well as hearing losses.  With Eargo 5, Eargo has again redesigned the eartips, which now include built-in wax filters, making the device much easier to maintain.  Eargo has also continued to improve Eargo’s rechargeability—Eargo 5 is the first product to use an inductive charging system with no contacts.

Eargo product overview

Eargo sells four different products—the Eargo Max, launched in 2018, the Eargo Neo, launched in 2019, the Eargo Neo HiFi, launched in 2020, and Eargo 5, launched earlier this year. All Eargo hearing aids are intended to fit mild to moderately-severe high-frequency hearing loss and can be ordered online or by phone.

Eargo Product Lineup

Eargo Max

Eargo Max is the company’s oldest platform and is considered their entry level hearing aid; however, it is also the least expensive aid in their portfolio.  The High Frequency Average (HFA) gain is 26 dB with a 50 dB SPL input.  This makes the hearing aid suitable for mild to moderately-severe high-frequency hearing losses.  It includes 4 different sound profiles which are essentially volume changes but also includes noise reduction, feedback control and voice indicators for program number notification.  Program changes are made by double tapping the ear with a flat, open hand.

Eargo Max does not have an accompanying smart phone app or any available remote control, so this is the only way to change the programs (volume). The pressure change created by moving your hand is sensed by the hearing aids and allows for the program change.  There is not a physical button to press on the hearing instruments. Although there is no app and limited control of the device, there is still support which can be found online via a library of video tutorials or you can online chat or call and speak to an Eargo professional to help troubleshoot or setup your devices. Eargo Max has a standard 1-year warranty.

Eargo Neo

This device, introduced in 2019 provides more noise reduction than its predecessor and a better feedback control but provides the same level of gain (HFA of 26 dB with a 50 dB SPL input).  It also has the added advantage of an app where you can choose preferred listening settings such as meeting, TV or crowd and have those loaded into one of the 4 listening programs. Keep in mind that if you place a “crowd” program into slot 3, you will have to remember that program 3 is for crowds.  That is, the device’s voice alerts will just say “program 3” and not “crowd program”, for example. You can also choose to disable programs that you aren’t using so that you’re not toggling through programs to get to the one you really want to use.

Unlike most hearing aids on the market, the app does not connect directly to the Eargo hearing aids; rather it connects to the charger. So, in order for you to implement any changes the hearing aids have to be placed into the charger. Choosing a program number while wearing the hearing aids is still achieved via the double tapping of the ear.  Eargo Neo has a standard 1-year warranty.

Eargo Neo HiFi

This device, introduced in 2020 also provides HFA gain of 26 dB but the company notes “increased frequency bandwidth” compared to previous generations as well as an improved feedback control and a wind noise algorithm.  They again redesigned the eartips using “tetrapalms” which may again help improve comfort and sound quality for the Eargo Neo HiFi.

A smart phone app is again available where you can choose listening settings and disable programs but you can also modify bass and treble.  However, again there is no program change via the app so the ear double tap is still required to change programs.  Eargo Neo HiFi has a standard 1-year warranty.

Why you should consider Eargo

  • Cost-effective hearing loss solution with a range of models at different price points.
  • 45-day trial period with full refund if hearing aids are returned.
  • Cosmetically appealing CIC design; black coloring helps to hide the instrument within the shadows of the ear canal.
  • Traditional hearing test not required increasing accessibility to hearing healthcare.
  • In-office visits not required for adjustments which can be advantageous to those with transportation or mobility issues and during challenges like we’ve recently seen with the pandemic.
  • Robust online and personalized professional support via phone call, online chat, or remote care.
  • Professional support for the life of the hearing aids.
  • Rechargeable devices for ease of use and good battery life on a single charge (up to 16 hours). Portable charging case will provide daily recharges for up to a week.
  • Large print left/right indicators on the hearing aids make it easy to know which device is for which ear.
  • Available free, non-working sample aid to test the fit of the instruments.
  • Multiple listening programs available and personalization available with greater flexibility in the higher price point hearing aids.

Potential negatives of Eargo

  • Hearing aids are sold in pairs, so if you have a unilateral loss, this hearing aid may not be ideal.
  • Not suitable for more significant hearing loss such as seen with flat hearing losses (hearing loss across frequency range) or more severe to profound hearing losses.
  • Not appropriate for young children.
  • While the price point is attractive, more sophisticated, professionally fit hearing aids are also available at a similar price or even for less.
  • Although you can provide a professional audiological exam to Eargo for program selection of the instruments, fine tuning is much more limited than with traditional hearing aids. The online hearing test (or in situ test via Sound Match in the Eargo 5) evaluates a narrow range of hearing frequencies and there is no understanding of how well you perceive speech in quiet and in noise, or your loudness tolerance across frequencies.
  • Linear amplification may not provide the best comfort or audibility for all patients.
  • Not a custom fit, so the hearing aids may be physically uncomfortable for some people. Eargo notes a higher return rate than that seen with traditional hearing aids and it is likely that the fit plays a factor here. However, a free fit trial with a non-working device is available.
  • Although more closed domes are available, the eartips are not custom and are meant to provide a more “open” fit. Open fits provide more comfort for your own voice but they are also more prone to feedback and low frequency gain will be limited.
  • Other than the Eargo 5, properly positioning the hearing aids in the charger may be problematic for some. However, this is true of other rechargeable hearing aids as well.
  • No connectivity/streaming of audio from your devices such mobile phone, TV, tablet, etc.
  • No remote control or accessories available except with Eargo 5 where the app acts as a remote.
  • No tinnitus features
  • No telecoil availability
  • No accessories for TV, computer or other devices.

Eargo compared to traditional medical model

While Eargo’s direct-to-consumer model does have the potential to improve access to hearing healthcare, it is possible to find in-person care at a similar price point or, for even less. And for many, depending on the quality of care delivered, in-person care will likely lead to better hearing outcomes.

A professional hearing test is not required to order and fit any Eargo device. Even if one is provided to Eargo, or the online or in-app test is conducted, limited information is utilized for fitting the hearing aid. In other words, only a handful of tones are tested and used to determine the initial settings of the hearing aids.

Compare this with a full spectrum of sound tested by an HCP. The HCP will not only test your response to tones across the frequency range, but also test your speech understanding in quiet and possibly also in noise. In addition, the HCP will examine your ears, discuss your health history, hearing concerns, and lifestyle and listening needs.

All of this information is used to help the HCP guide you to an appropriate amplification choice including the possible use of accessories such as a remote microphone or TV connector. The HCP may even see that you may be a candidate for other technology such as a cochlear implant and/or may refer you to other professionals such as an Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) physician if needed.

The recommended protocol when fitting hearing aids is to test your hearing aids while on your ear and match to a well-researched prescription target. The hearing aids can then be adjusted to match target and can be further programmed over time to maximize both your comfort and hearing performance. Unless you take your Eargo devices into a local audiologist, real-ear measurements and target matching simply isn’t possible. And, even if you do attempt to match targets, the limited tonal controls and lack of digital compression would likely make matching target impossible.

If we look more closely at the cost of the Eargo 5 device, we see that the current cost is $2950 for a pair. Eargo devices, as the article notes, do not provide many of the standard features of modern digital hearing aids such as multi-channel compression, Bluetooth connectivity, and variable directionality. As such Eargo devices would be considered more entry-level technology.

We recently researched the cost of a mid-level rechargeable hearing aid in north Florida and found a pair from the leading manufacturer at the cost of $2798. These hearing aids are sold through an HCP, are rechargeable and include a 3- year warranty and 1 year of unlimited in-office visits. Similarly, Costco pricing for their Kirkland signature brand, a high-end level of technology, is $1399 a pair. Both of these examples show that in-person care can be found at a lower price point while providing a higher level of technology.

So, while there are certainly advantages to the Eargo devices, mainly the ease of ordering the hearing aids and their cosmetic appeal, other more sophisticated options that provide professional in-person support may be preferred especially when cost is no longer a factor. Put another way, in-person care from a professional may be preferred to ensure that you are getting the most from your hearing healthcare investment.

Bottom Line

Eargo hearing aids offer a direct-to-consumer approach to hearing healthcare and may serve as a good entry-point for hearing aids for those with mild to moderately-severe high-frequency hearing loss.  However, as with all products, there are pros and cons, and Eargo’s novel delivery model may present additional challenges for some.

After a false start shortly after picking them up that required a full power cycling (drain to empty, fully recharge) of the charger/devices, I'm now getting to use them daily. I was delayed in getting them for a week by the US/Canada border closures. It's a bit more challenging living outside the US and buying EarGos, as they're not really supported outside the US, but I have managed to overcome a few of those obstacles, and I can say that I'm pleased with my E5s now, after I got them up and running, and was finally able to pair them with my phone. So, after only 3 months of use, I'm using a combination of Normal, Phone, TV, and Meeting, which are my favorite combinations of programs and settings. They work best for me, after pairing them with my Asus ROG 3 phone, and running a couple of Sound Match setups from the EarGo app. I'm impressed with the sound quality and somewhat greater flexibility they give me over my previous EarGo Max devices. I use the E5s most often to watch televison using the EarGo app "TV" setting, so I don't have to wake the neighborhood like I used before, with much higher TV volume settings. I also find them helpful when using speakerphone on the "Phone" setting, and just at their default "Normal", or the "Meeting" settings for everyday sounds. The Maxes were a good starter kit for me, and did a good job for me over the prior 2 years. The E5s are quite a bit more techie, but it's good techie, and the sound quality is really amazing. So, I would say so far, so good.

I purchased the Eargo-5’s a couple of months ago having never experienced any hearing assistance products before and having been advised by my audiologist that I was way past due given my level of age-related hearing loss. I am very pleased both with the results and with the quality of the product. Not only were the Eargo's affordable but they have made a world of difference and improvement in my ability to hear, especially higher frequency tones such as my grandchildren's and female voices. This was decision that I should not have delayed making for so long. The Eargo's are so easy to use and maintain and they are extremely comfortable to wear. Beyond that, no one has ever noticed that I am wearing them—my vanity is intact! I have also been very pleased with the quality customer support from Eargo and the ease of access when I have questions or need to purchase additional accessories (ear-buds, caps). This was a great purchase and great decision.  I have and will continue to recommend the Eargo's to my friends and family.

There are lot of things I like about these things, and a lot I don’t like. The main problem is the whack yourself up the side of the head to change program feature. Not only does this produce strange stares from onlookers, but if you happen to be in an environment where a deep bass speaker or subwoofer is playing, it will CONTINUOUSLY change the program ‘for you’ along with the accompanying “program 1”, “program 2” going off in your ears until you remove yourself from that environment or pull the eargos out of your ears. I found this happening so often that I finally had to remove all but one program.

. I am very pleased with your product (EarGo 5). Performance is first rate. I have always had trouble with various ear  bud devices, they don't stay in place. EarGo 5's fit well using the medium petal option and stay in place even when working out at the gym. I like that I can tweak all the various settings, bass, treble, volume and environment. I generally have to remind myself they are in my ear as the comfort level is very high. My hearing is greatly improved with these devices and they go unnoticed by others when I am out in public.
2. Your company was the only one I checked into that offered free sample devices (minus electronics) to check comfort and fit. I found no one else doing that. The 45 day trial period for the actual units is a huge deal as well. A no questions asked return policy is just good customer service. Also the opportunity to check in with an audiologist if need be is not something that many others offer. All contact I've had with customer care has been basically trouble free.
Couple of items on the down side:
3. The welcome call I received was pretty much a waste of my time. The individual that contacted me seemed completely uninterested in my experience. Asked if I like the devices. I said yes, then he asked if I had any questions. I said not at the moment, and he responded by signing off from our call. Completely uninterested in speaking with me. I'm 69 years old and don't need coddling but he could have expressed a little more enthusiasm.
4. The app seems to have a small glitch. I had turned on the reminder notifications for changing the petals as well as the microphone caps. I selected two month intervals for each. I started receiving replacement notifications the very next day. Five alerts for each item in the morning hours and again in the evening hours. A total of "20" alerts every day and I had only been using the devices for two days at that point. It continued happening every day like this until I turned off all alerts. I notified tech support/ customer service and they said they would look into it and get back to me. No one has re-contacted me on this matter, so I still have the reminder notifications turned off in the app.
5. Since I switched to the open petals right away, I have no replacements except one set of closed petals. I ordered a supply of replacement mic caps and open petal replacements a couple of weeks ago and nothing has shipped yet. I have received several emails that they are trying to get my order together but nothing in about a week, so still in limbo.
Overall I am pleased with your product and its performance. I think some work still needs to be done in the other areas. If assigning a numerical rating between 1 and 10 I would say you rate an 8.5 at this point. If your product cannot get replacement parts support, how long can I continue using them? I understand the supply chain difficulties but still.......

The Eargo 5 has a microphone cap which can be replaced, and which totally solves any problems with wax buildup.  Also, the battery now covers for long days and evenings.  I like the Eargo 5, but I was happy with earlier versions.  Other hearing aids now look to me like Christmas tree ornaments, hanging off the ear.

Great experience and easy to get used to them.  Can hear the car radio at a 3 and I used to listen to it at 13.  Meetings are great.  I am sure I am still not perfect in hearing, but much better.  Easy to clean.

I have had the Eargo 5 for about a week.  They are comfortable and work very well. After meeting with Eargo's audiologist Dr. Sheets, I have a clearer understanding of how the app works. That meeting was this morning.  I was already very happy and now... even better!.  There are a couple of things that seem confusing with the app but once it's explained it's not a problem at all. For example there are no graphs or bars to let you know how much you have turned something up or down. There are reasons for this which the audiologist will go over and explain to you.  While I am wearing the aids, I have almost no tinnitus.

The itching is almost gone. Experiment with the different included buds.  It made a huge difference to me. I am actually more comfortable with 2 different buds.  I will absolutely recommend Eargo both for their products and customer/patient care.

Bought a few weeks before black friday.  Took several phone calls and over two weeks to get the hearing aides to function properly.  Saw an offer for the Black Friday special price.  Was still within the window to return them.  Told didn't need to, would be refunded the difference.  That didn't happen.   Eargo is big on advertising but once they have your money that's where the service stops.

Having just upgraded from the 2nd generation of EarGo to the 5th, I am overjoyed in every way.  Every feature as described in the promotional literature is spot on and light years more advanced than my earlier set. Most notable, the amplification strength is significantly stronger than before. This would be especially beneficial for "patients" with moderate and greater hearing loss.  Mine is "mild to moderate" and setting my Eargos any higher than the 2nd program would be effectively too loud.  Without rambling on, I would just add that the “Sound Match" feature is priceless. It is essentially like giving yourself the identical hearing booth test you may have taken at your ENT or Audiologist, resulting in the Eargos "tuning" themselves to your specific deficiencies—the low, medium and high frequency sounds you’re missing, and leaves you able to then adjust the volume of the collective setting, or further fine tune them individually by yourself.  Treat yourself to these! You have nothing to lose except the sounds you don’t even know you’re not hearing today.

I like the fact that everything stays in the ear-opening area.  I had already lost one previous aid when I removed my mask.  I've had no problem so far.  I also like the fact that I can adjust volume and program selection on my cell phone.

The app is lacking with the inability to know to what extent program settings have been changed. Need voice acknowledgment of numeric change. The devices themselves are comfortable and sound quality especially after doing sound match properly is excellent!! Definitely need work on app.

I worked with Power Plants for over 30 Years  and it was obvious to myself and my Family that I am Hard of Hearing.  As well, because of Years of High Pitched Noises associated with constant exposure to Large

Mechanical Equipment I also suffer suffer from Constant Tinnitus, a constant Ring in My Ears that is also there.

The Ringing has Lessened considerably since I've gotten the Eargo 5. As well, I can participate in Normal Conversations again & have Lowered the TV in 1/2 to of the Volume I used to have it set to.

Very Impressed with the Eargo 5. I can Hear again.

It is a Blessing. Thank you Eargo.

They tickle. They occlude the ear canal.
The app is fussy. I can't discern any difference between the four available adjustable "programs." They feedback a lot. The cylindrical design allows the device to rotate in your ear so that the orientation changes and the removal thread ends up at the top of the device instead of the bottom. They're so small that they "walk" themselves deeper into the ear canal - dangerously so. I've been worried that I won't be able to retrieve them. The programs are changed by air pressure - tapping on the outer ear - wearing them while working, the sound from a hammer blow caused the program to change.
Most troubling is that the noise cancellation feature causes some sounds to be alterered or attenuated. Beeps from car door locks, microwave ovens, alarm clocks are digitally altered - instead of a steady tone they are given a pulse effect. Very odd and disconcerting.
Listening to live music causes the devices to feedback or squeal. The sound is very treble heavy. High pitches and whistles are fuzzy and just walking on a wooden floor or gravel has a very digital pingy sound.
Because they amplify everything - I still have trouble picking out voices in a noisy environment like a party or restaurant. They amplify the background noise as well as what you want to hear. Louder isn't clearer.
Finally - I really wish they were bluetooth compatible.
I sent mine back just before the 45 day return window closed.

The sound quality is excellent. They hold their charge for 14-16 hours.  They are pretty much invisible while wearing them.  The ability to switch between the 4 programs allows performance to be optimized.  The Eargo 5 hearing aids allow me to hear a lot of sounds and conversations, with great sound quality, that I was missing out on.  The storage/charging pod allows me the versatility to store or charge them on the go.  I am very happy with the Eargo 5 hearing aids.

have had the Eargo 5's for over 3 months and love them. I have to admit that it took a little time getting used to them but my specialist Chelsea helped me greatly. I am still amazed at things I can hear that I was missing. From the sound of the keys as I type this to the sound of my feet as I walk, these are newly re-found sounds I was missing.

We recently went on a trip to the beach with my wife's sister and brother-in-law. I did not tell them I had the Eargo's but that evening as we were waiting for diner reservations, my wife told them while I was out of the car. My brother-in-law said that he had wondered how I was able to hear the person at the check-in desk when he could not. There was a sheet of plexiglass between us as a Covid precaution and there were 3 other people checking in around us. He was straining to hear and I would have to repeat the instructions. He said that he has friends who have the conventional behind the ear hearing aids but they do not wear them. He feels that they make them look older so they go without. No one ever knows I am wearing mine because the are hidden in my ear.

I have gotten used to the app on the phone which is fine when I am not around people but being able to tap my ear to change settings helps greatly in public.

I would recommend these for anyone who has trouble hearing. The fact that you can do a hearing test in your quiet living room and change the settings for better clarity any time you want makes these a game changer. I have now fine tuned my Eargo's 3 times and they are better every time.

The good thing was that there are no wires linking to a battery at the back of the ear. So no issues wearing glasses, face masks or hats. It cannot be seen because it is placed in my ear. That does not concern me, but that other hearing aids are vulnerable to the wearing of masks, glasses or hats. This with no loss of reception.

The Eargo 5 is more powerful than their Eargo HIFI plus you have so many more options . The one option that was so important to me was the Restaurant mode -taking out background noise !.

Secondly, you have many adjustments available with Eargo 5 . Sound match for one -its like going to your audiologist and setting the correct program that fits your own ears but in the comfort of your home

I have tried three generation of Eargos. The Eargo 5 fit is fabulous. The previous versions just didn't quite fit my ear canals but the Eargo 5 does. The acoustics are great. I have recommended them to several friends.

I have been an Eargo Max customer for 3 years. I wondered about the improvements of the Eargo 5. Furthermore, I spoke to my hearing audiologist Annie Burns, and she told me about the personal adjustments that intrigued me as there were limited adjustment of my Eargo Max. I decided to purchase a set of Eargo 5s after a great discount for being a Vietnam Era veteran. I lost some of my hearing from 80+Decibels of noise from extream Equipment 24-7 that left me with a gradual hearing lost. Not only that, but I have moderate to extream  hearing loss in both ears! Now that I'm retired I found myself asking my wife of 45 years questions  repeatedly. The Eargo max helped but were not fine tunable. The Eargo-5 were orderded and when I received them I charged them and downloaded the Eargo app. The the fun began. I took the hearing test and set the progarming and updated the hearing aids! When I put them in my ears wow what a differnce. I could hear sounds I havent heard so clearly especialy my wifes soft voice and the grand father clock on the wall. Both ears were not used to hearing all the new sounds again. Well i could tell you about the great after service and also heaing my friends in meeithgs and conversations but there are so many things to like about the New Eargo-5. sincerly Ron Burnside in Montana.

I previously had the Eargo Max devices for several years. When I first got them they were game changers for me. My interactions with my colleagues at work were immensely improved. However, I had an issue over the course of the last year with wax build up in the microphone port. The Eargo 5 has solved that issue. With a self cleaning cap that can be replaced, the sound from my new devices is clearer and crisper then ever, and I am confident it will remain that way with this improved feature. And the new devices are even more comfortable than the older version. They are such a benefit to me I even wear them on the weekend now. If the Eargo fit and function works for you, I can not recommend them highlyenough.

I love my EARGO 5 hearing aids.  I can’t find anything that I dislike.  My hearing is so improved with them that I can’t wait to put them in when I awake and hate to remove them before going to bed.  They are comfortable and virtually invisible. They are easy to clean and charge.  The support staff is superb.  My audiologist, Lois Benson is so knowledgeable and friendly.  She has made calls just to see how I am doing.   That’s something you don’t hear of these days.  This company truly cares for clients and not just out to make a sale.  I am so happy I made the decision to purchase the EARGO 5 and hope to enjoy them for a long while.

I wear glasses and I've tried  over-the-ear hearing aids and found them to be very uncomfortable and distracting. When I purchased my Eargo hearing aids, I didn't know what to expect but I have been very satisfied with my choice. They are extremely comfortable and easy to use. I have not had any issues with them and they have improved my ability to hear my wife and family more clearly. I would recommend them to anyone who is experiencing low to moderate hearing loss. Customer support has been fantastic when needed and I really like the reminders I receive when they need to be cleaned. Overall, I am completely satisfied with my Eargo hearing aids and I look forward to using them with confidence and gratitude. Thanks, Eargo for giving me a great product!

I’ve been using Eargo 5’s for about a month now and they are game changers. I purchased Eargo Plus hearing aids 5-years ago after my wife told me that my poor hearing was causing me to miss out on too much of life. It was a very good decision and my quality of life improved as soon as the package arrived. My fully chargeable Eargo’s enabled me to converse in restaurants, turn down the TV volume, and have conversations without having to face whomever I was talking to. The best part is that nobody knew because Eargo’s are virtually invisible.

With enhanced features and technology Eargo 5 promised to redefine the Eargo experience. Sound Match allows you to customize each ear’s settings without the need for an audiologist, but they are available if you need them. You can then customize your devices to various environments like Normal, Phone, Music, TV, or Restaurants. For the first time in years, I can hear nuance in music, talk to my wife from different floors in our home, and engage mask required situations with total confidence.

Finally, the warranty is spot on. Any issues that arise are handled quickly and professionally. I recommend Eargo 5’s to boomers like myself, or anybody, whose hearing is not what it used to be, but who wishes to enhance and expand their world with the gift of sound.

I'm so glad I finally got my Eargo 5, I waited for a bit because I have over the ear digital hearing aids from Costco which requires battery replacement every 7-10 days.

Eargo is rechargeable and fits in my ears comfortably, I also love the features available on its app and I can retest my hearing whenever I choose. The quality of my hearing is also very good now. I highly recommend Eargo hearing aids.

I tried two sets of Eargo 5 and they both produced distortion and harmonics in the higher frequencies.  The Eargo Neo's worked well for me, but the Eargo 5's may have a serious problem.  The company never responded to my concern so zero stars for the product and management team.

I received the Eargo 5 hearing aids 4 days ago (9/4/2021). I downloaded the mobile app to my android phone only to discover that my phone is not capable of running the app (my phone is less than 2 years old). No where in the literature does it indicate the android operating system required to run this app. In addition, calls to the company have not been returned and I was notified that my 45 day "free trial" began the day I received the hearing aids even though I cannot talk with one of their "experts" until September 24th to try and iron our any problems. That would leave me only 3 weeks remaining on their free trial. Communications have been non-existent and attitudes have been "oh well". I am not denigrating the hearing aid itself because I have not been able to use them  but what use are these is I cannot control them and there's no one to talk to. I have initiated the warranty return procedure.

They are comfortable, but I think I may have too much hearing loss to wear them. If I turn the volume up to where I need it, I start having problems with them whistling. I will probably return.

Eargo 6 has just been announced. They are due out in mid to late January per the website. As soon as someone has some usage experience, please post. I recently ordered Eargo 5 before 6 was announced. I understand they are going to offer an upgrade program for an upgrade fee. I am especially interested in the user experience from someone who has used the Eargo 5 and now tried the Eargo 6.
