About the Beltone Imagine
Imagine is the latest flagship product from Beltone, the nation's largest hearing care retailer. In many ways, Imagine is an upgrade from Beltone's previous receiver-in-canal flagship, Beltone Amaze. Like Amaze, Imagine offers wireless audio streaming for iOS and Android devices (via MFi and ASHA), hands-free calling, and remote programming support. But, Imagine offers a number of key upgrades when compared to Amaze, such as a brand new speaker design that places a microphone in the ear canal. Beltone claims that this "innovative" new technology eliminates "unnatural sound" and delivers "superior sound quality."
Designed for people with mild-to-severe hearing loss, Imagine provides the same sound quality and technology as the ReSound One, a state-of-the-art hearing aid developed by Beltone’s parent company, GN Hearing. While the technology may be the same, the main differentiator is the service offered by Beltone; when you purchase from Beltone, you receive lifetime support at any one of its 1,500 North American Clinics.

Microphone in ear design
Parent company GN Hearing has launched Microphone & Receiver-In-Ear (M&RIE) simultaneously in both ReSound and Beltone products. M&RIE (pronounced Marie) is essentially the inclusion of a microphone on the speaker unit that sits deep inside the ear canal. The microphone is directed toward the outside of the ear, and picks up sound that enters the ear naturally, so that the hearing aid can understand the natural resonance of the ear (and ear canal). In theory, this means the hearing aid can more naturally reproduce the natural sound of the wearer's ear.
A recent press release from Beltone described the benefits of the new M&RIE system:
M&RIE provides a naturally immersive hearing experience with greater depth and sound localization while significantly reducing wind noise. The most immediate way people will notice the breakthrough is the sound of their own voice."
Ultra Focus and CrossLink Directionality 3
The other brand new feature in Imagine is binaural beamforming directionality, which uses microphones from both hearing aids to create a hyperdirectional microphone array. This is thanks to the new chip platform that enables ear-to-ear wireless streaming between hearing aids. Beltone states that CrossLink Directionality 3 uses a new binaural connection to create a stronger, more focused beam for sounds in front of the listener. Compared to traditional directionality it provides up to 2 dB better signal-to-noise ratio".
Smartphone connectivity
Beltone was among the first to offer Made-for-iPhone connectivity, and Imagine hearing aids deliver wireless streaming of audio to hearing aids from Android smartphones as well. Beltone’s parent, GN Hearing, collaborated with Google, and Cochlear Ltd. to introduce the first direct Android streaming to hearing aids and hearing implants using Bluetooth Low Energy wireless technology.
With nearly 80% of the world’s mobile users relying on Android phones and devices, delivering on the promise of the new Android Streaming for Hearing Aids (ASHA) protocol provides wireless smartphone hearing aid connectivity to a broader potential customer base than ever before.
Wireless accessories and apps
Imagine hearing aids also work with Beltone’s 2.4 GHz Direct Line wireless accessories, including remote microphones, audio streaming devices for phones and TV’s, and handheld remote controllers.
Imagine hearing aids also work with Beltone’s smartphone apps. The HearMax app provides remote control capabilities, management of smartphone and 2.4 GHz streaming accessories, and remote support from your audiologist. The HearPlus app provides simple remote control of the hearing aids. And the Smart Remote app can be used with the Direct Line wireless accessories to manage audio streaming from the TV, phone and music players.
Rechargeability
The new Imagine 63 DRWC hearing aids come with an integrated lithium-ion rechargeable battery. A charging station supplies an overnight charge to the hearing aids to provide all-day power. A premium charger is also available, which offers an additional "three full charges" while on the go. Both chargers are equipped with LED indicator lights to show the charging status of the hearing aids. The premium charger includes additional LED indicator lights to show the charging status of the charger itself. Imagine 63 and 64 DRW models are powered by disposable zinc-air batteries
Colors
The Imagine family comes in eight colors to match patients’ skin and hair tones. Colors include Sparkling Silver, Champagne, Gold, Bronze, Warm Grey, Graphite, Espresso Brown, and Deep Black. The standard and premium chargers are not offered in a variety of color options. Both are a shade of grey.
