Phonak CROS Lumity

If you have unaidable hearing in one ear and normal hearing on the other side or if you have an aidable hearing loss in your better ear, CROS Lumity from Phonak is the latest, fully rechargeable, hearing advancement that can help you. CROS Lumity has been proven to improve speech understanding and provides awareness of where sounds are coming from in your environment. This lets users enjoy conversations from both sides of their head, automatically transmitting sounds and voices from the ear you do not hear well with to the ear you hear better on.

The CROS device mirrors the Phonak hearing aid side, allowing automatic access to proprietary Phonak features like StereoZoom 2.0, which focuses the hearing aid microphones forward to  hear speech better during one-on-one conversations. Dynamic Noise Cancellation makes it easier to hear from the front by reducing background noise, and features like Speech Enhancer makes it easier to hear soft voices from a distance.

CROS Lumity is compatible with several Phonak rechargeable hearing aid devices. The Phonak flagship product, Audeo Lumity (a receiver-in-the-canal device), is a popular hearing aid choice because it is easy to use and wear. You can choose from the Audeo Lumity rechargeable (L-R) or Lumity rechargeable with telecoil (L-RT) models to pair with the CROS Lumity. A telecoil model is a popular option because it wirelessly connects to loop systems. Telecoils boost sound in large venues like places of worship, auditoriums, and amphitheaters. If you travel abroad you may be able to hear better in taxis and elevators, which are often looped for telecoil use.

Other pairings of products include the Naida L-PR or the Sky L-PR, which are behind-the-ear (BTE) devices. These BTE devices are good solutions if you need a larger physical piece to help with dexterity for inserting and removing the device. They sit behind the ear and can help with conditions and concerns like a draining ear and excessive wax.

CROS Lumity comes in 11 colors matching hair colors, skin colors, and three new brighter colors (Precious Pink, Electric Green, and Caribbean Pirate).

Adding Phonak Roger

A Roger wireless microphone is a versatile microphone system designed to transmit speech directly to the hearing device and is used in difficult and dynamic listening environments to enhance your listening experience further. Adding a Roger improves speech understanding by 61% compared to people who wear a hearing aid alone1. The Roger microphone will not only improve speech intelligibility in noisy environments but will also increase hearing when the sound source is at a distance.

Roger automatically changes between three modes: presenter, pointing, and table, allowing you to learn, work, and socialize. Roger can also be used for television streaming and as a headset for computer calls on Microsoft Teams or Zoom. If you enjoy using apps, the myRogerMic app can be downloaded (in both the Apple app store and the Google Play store), giving you more control over your listening experience.

Connectivity and Personalization

To stream both Apple and Android products the Phonak CROS system offers universal connectivity and uses standard BT Classic (using Bluetooth 4.2 and higher). This connectivity allows the Phonak CROS Lumity system to become a Bluetooth headset which, when connected, streams directly to smartphones, TVs, tablets, laptops, and more. To further tailor your hearing aid solution, you can choose to download and connect to either the myPhonak app or the myPhonak Junior app.

The myPhonak app provides users with a number of preset program options while also allowing easy access to settings for TV, restaurants, and music. You can also customize the Tap Control features, change the auto-on/off, and modify Bluetooth bandwidth. Other features include setting up cleaning reminders, tracking wear time, and monitoring daily step count. Phonak also offers Remote Support in the myPhonak app. This feature allows users to connect to their hearing provider via smartphone wherever they are in real-time. Hearing aid changes can be made remotely to customize your listening experience anytime. The myPhonak Junior app is another app choice, offering a streamlined user experience. This app offers fewer technical features, allowing access to only volume and sound cleaning controls for those interested in an easier remote option.

Hearing Aids and Cognition

Did you know that hearing loss has been linked to cognitive decline? In July 2023, The Johns Hopkins ACHIEVE Study2 reported their randomized controlled study findings that hearing aids benefit thinking and memory. Phonak supports a holistic approach focused on improving overall outcomes, integrating amplification solutions, education, and resources to strengthen cognitive health.

Phonak makes innovative hearing technologies that are designed to provide a personalized experience. The Phonak.com website can help you locate a highly skilled hearing professional who can test your hearing and make the best and most appropriate recommendations so you can enjoy the benefits of a hearing solution that truly works for you.
