Building on its successful Nexia hearing aid platform— the first to incorporate Bluetooth LE Audio with Auracast— ReSound is now adding a new wireless custom in-the-canal (ITC) and CROS behind-the-ear (BTE) devices to the line. The company is also adding Multi-Mic+, a versatile multifunctional remote microphone that is particularly useful for hearing aid users in challenging listening environments, including distances and background noise. Additionally, ReSound has unveiled its new Smart Fit 2.0 Fitting Software for hearing providers, offering faster workflows and a significantly improved user interface for a smoother, smarter, and more personalized fitting experience.

ReSound, with US headquarters near Chicago, is the flagship company in the Denmark-based GN Group, one of the world’s top-five largest hearing aid manufacturers which also includes Beltone.

Enhancing the ReSound Nexia range, GN is launching the smallest In-the-Canal (ITC) hearing aid available in a wireless non-rechargeable model and a new wireless rechargeable CROS Behind-the-Ear (BTE) option. The new ITC features a size 312 battery. The new additions cater to diverse hearing needs, offering effective solutions for those seeking a more discreet wireless custom device or for people with single-sided deafness who can now consider a BTE in addition to the wireless Nexia CROS RIE introduced in 2023.

“We are continuously striving to cater to the needs of hearing aid users worldwide,” said GN Hearing Division President Scott Davis in a press statement.” I’m delighted that more people can now benefit from ReSound Nexia’s best-in-class hearing in noise technology and experience the ‘next era’ of hearing and connectivity. With the introduction of these new technologies, people with hearing loss can strengthen their connections to people and the world around them and hear the sounds that matter.”

The new Auracast-enabled styles allow more individuals with hearing loss to access GN’s cutting-edge technology, aligning with the latest standards in Bluetooth LE for better connectivity, sound quality, and battery life. According to ReSound, the new C6 chip in the ITC offers 35% more battery efficiency over legacy wireless ITC (LiNX Quattro ITC) for close to 8 days of use (about 130 hours) before changing batteries. The BTE CROS offers 16 hours of CROS Streaming on one charge (with 100% streaming).

With the introduction of Multi-Mic+, GN now offers the world’s first remote microphone with Auracast capability. The new hearing aid accessory supports telecoil, FM systems, and direct audio input (DAI), and is designed to assist users in difficult listening environments, such as in noisy spaces or from a distance. The technology in the Multi-Mic+ enhances the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) by at least 10.6 dB compared to adaptive directionality,3 ensuring better hearing in challenging conditions.

ReSound Smart Fit 2.0: Improving Efficiency and Personalization

For hearing care professionals, fitting software is a critical tool for ensuring user satisfaction. On average, 55% of a hearing aid fitting session is spent navigating the software,4  which can be cumbersome and time-consuming for the professional as they wait for things to load or have to click numerous times in different menus. The new ReSound Smart Fit 2.0 streamlines this process, offering a 33-second improvement in clickthrough speed and reducing the number of clicks needed by 62%. The updated software features faster workflows and an enhanced home screen, delivering a more efficient, intelligent, and personalized fitting experience.

“Over the years, we have been improving our fitting software, so it performs consistently to the needs of hearing care professionals around the world,” says GN Hearing Chief Audiology Officer Laurel Christensen. “ReSound Smart Fit 2.0 addresses some of the key challenges faced by hearing care professionals. By simplifying and speeding up the fitting experience, we are enhancing both the professional and the user experience, leading to greater satisfaction.”
