This requires not only a correct software firmware but also the correct hardware or in this case the correct Bluetooth chip. Because older iPhones seem to have the same Bluetooth doesn't mean so in reality, because modern chips can be upgraded to newer versions just by changing the firmware/software and that is what Apple has done with IOS15 and higher.
What does iPhone Hardware have to do with it as long as the OS is 15.2 or later??
iPhone11 will be supported but not the iPhone10, same Bluetooth 5.0 ??
Also, How about making one of the buttons programable to answer a call??
