Lexie Hearing, part of LXE Hearing, has announced its earbud-style over-the-counter (OTC) hearing aid called the Lexie H1 Hearing Buds. The new H1 Hearing Buds share what appears to be almost identical form and features with the Link by Eargo (including borrowing the Eargo logo, as shown below), another LXE product—but at less than half the price ($299 vs. $799).

The H1 delivers both clear speech amplification and premium Bluetooth streaming in a lightweight package. Priced at $299, the Lexie H1 joins a growing category of hybrid devices that provide both hearing support and high-quality Bluetooth streaming for everyday listening.

The H1 marks the second product announcement from LXE Hearing—the new parent company formed through the merger of Lexie Hearing, Eargo, and hearX—and reflects the group’s strategy to bring clinically informed hearing technology to a broader audience at an affordable price point. In May, LXE launched the Eargo 8 OTC completely-in-canal (CIC) hearing aid.

Bridging Hearing Support and Everyday Listening

With the H1, Lexie’s goal is to blur the line between medical hearing assistance and lifestyle audio products. “Today's consumers expect technology that gives them flexibility and choice,” said interim LXE Hearing CEO Adam Karp in a press statement. “We’ve delivered that with the Lexie hearing buds, a powerful, multi-purpose device that’s designed for the way people live today. This is hearing support that empowers you to hear clearly in conversations, then easily switch to streaming your favorite music or podcasts—so you're always tuned into the sounds that enrich your life.”

Fitting in well with Lexie’s previous products, the H1 draws on years of clinical research and input from audiologists. The earbuds are targeted toward adults with mild-to-moderate hearing loss, offering a discreet form factor that looks and feels more like mainstream earbuds than traditional hearing aids. However, unlike previous Lexie products, these are the first in-ear—in contrast to behind the ear (BTE)— style hearing aids the company has offered.

Although HearAdvisor has not tested the H1, Link by Eargo received a "B" SoundGrade and currently sits in the top one-third of OTC hearing aids tested by the independent lab.

Key Features and Technology

The H1 Hearing Buds offer an exceptional suite of features for people looking for a versatile, Bluetooth OTC hearing aid, including:

  • Dual-purpose design: The Lexie H1 serves as both a Bluetooth streaming device and an FDA-registered OTC hearing aid. Users can amplify speech, listen to music, or take calls seamlessly through the same pair of earbuds. The devices are compatible with both iOS and Android smartphones.
  • Customer support and accessibility: As with all Lexie devices, users can access Lexie Experts® via text, phone, or live video chat for help with setup, troubleshooting, and fine-tuning. The app also includes 24/7 self-help resources, guided setup tutorials, and adaptive support tools.
  • Sound personalization and controls: The companion Lexie app—recognized in several design and accessibility awards—allows wearers to fine-tune their listening experience. Through the app, users can adjust volume, select from four listening presets, toggle background noise management, and even reassign touch controls. Adjustable Treble, Mid, and Bass sliders let users sculpt the streaming sound to taste.
  • Streaming and noise control: The earbuds include Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) to reduce environmental distractions, plus a Transparency Mode that lets external sounds through when situational awareness is needed.
  • Hands-on simplicity: Each earbud includes Touch Control, allowing users to answer calls, change modes, or adjust listening programs with a tap. This design eliminates the need for tiny mechanical buttons and supports easy, on-the-go operation.
  • Battery and charging: Lexie advertises up to 9 hours of continuous use per charge, with the pocket-sized charging case providing four additional full recharges—up to 45 total hours of listening. A 10-minute quick charge provides enough battery life for about 2 hours of use.
  • Durability: Rated IP54, the earbuds are resistant to dust and light splashes, making them suitable for everyday use and light exercise. The design aims to support an “active lifestyle,” blending hearing improvement with wireless convenience.

The Lexie H1 Hearing Buds are available for just $299 and come with everything a person needs to get started: the hearing buds, a portable charging case, and access to the free award-winning Lexie app.
