JVC Launches New EH-Z2000 OTC Self-Fitting, Bluetooth Rechargeable Hearing Aid
JVC has introduced its most advanced OTC hearing aid to date, building on its earlier EH-Z1500 model with a host of new user-friendly features designed to support personalized hearing care at home.)
JVCKENWOOD USA, Long Beach, Calif, has introduced the JVC EH-Z2000, a new self-fitting over-the-counter (OTC) hearing aid that combines rechargeable convenience, Bluetooth streaming, and AI-powered customization through its companion Tuned smartphone app. The release marks a significant step forward from the company’s first-generation model, the EH-Z1500, which was introduced in 2023.
Where the EH-Z1500 offered a discreet, app-controlled alternative to traditional hearing aids, the new EH-Z2000 enhances the experience with stronger battery life, advanced personalization tools, and direct streaming support for phone calls and media.
The JVC EH-Z2000 is now available for $999.95, with a limited-time introductory price of $899.95 on Amazon and the JVC website. That places it at the mid-level of the OTC hearing aid spectrum, and its dual emphasis on technology and remote support bolsters its value.
The previous-generation EH-Z1500s have been reduced on the website to $499.99 from $799.95. HearingTracker and HearAdvisor are in the process of testing the latest JVC aid; the previous Z1500 received an impressive HearAdvisor Tuned (audiologist-assisted) Score of 4.5 (out of 5) and an Initial (out of the box) Score of 3.8—and narrowly missed HearAdvisor's A (4.0) SoundGrade.

Smarter Self-fitting Setup and Streaming via Tuned App
Like its predecessor, the EH-Z2000 works with the Tuned app, which was developed in collaboration with audiologists and hearing scientists. However, the latest version introduces AI-based self-fitting technology—a system that guides users through an in-app hearing check and customizes amplification based on the results. The AI assistant also provides 24/7 support, including troubleshooting, adjustment tips, and educational content to help users get comfortable with their devices.
The Tuned app, which also supports daily goals, video tutorials, and motivational coaching, is designed to improve long-term satisfaction with hearing aids by addressing both the psychological and practical aspects of hearing care.
What's New in the EH-Z2000?
Compared to the EH-Z1500, the new EH-Z2000 adds:
- Rechargeable Batteries: The EH-Z2000 delivers up to 32 hours of battery life per charge, with an extra 52 hours provided by the portable charging case—a significant improvement over the disposable batteries used in the earlier model.
- Bluetooth Audio Streaming: For the first time in a JVC OTC hearing aid, users can stream calls, music, and podcasts directly from their smartphones using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), which minimizes power drain.
- Discreet and Comfortable Fit: A refined behind-the-ear design with multiple eartip sizes offers a virtually invisible fit and greater comfort for extended wear.
- Remote Support from Licensed Professionals: In addition to AI guidance, the EH-Z2000 gives users access to real-time help from hearing care professionals via the Tuned app.
Building on the EH-Z1500 Legacy
HearingTracker previously reported on the EH-Z1500's launch and provided an in-depth real-user product review of JVC's first OTC offering. The EH-Z2000 retains the easy setup and lightweight design of its predecessor, but adds enhancements such as Bluetooth streaming and AI-based self-tuning, bringing it closer to the experience of prescription-grade hearing aids.
“We’ve combined clinical-grade hearing science with cutting-edge AI and an intuitive app experience,” said JVCKENWOOD USA VP of Lifestyle Products Patrick Koehn in a press statement. “The EH-Z2000 is more than a hearing aid—it’s a smarter, more accessible way for people to take control of their hearing health.”
