Following previously reported results showing 17% organic growth in its external hearing aid sales, Demant has released a fuller third-quarter (Q3) update pointing to a broader market rebound. The parent company of Oticon estimates US commercial hearing aid unit sales grew 8% year over year in Q3, following flat sales in Q2.
In its update, Demant reiterated very strong group sales with growth of 21% and organic growth of 11%. As noted above, the group’s Hearing Aid division saw organic growth of 17% on the heels of the successful Oticon Reveal launch, and the earlier introduction of Oticon Zeal.
Søren Nielsen, Demant President & CEOWe delivered a very strong third quarter with 21% revenue growth for the Group, driven by particularly strong momentum in Hearing Aids and a significant contribution from the acquisition of German hearing care retailer KIND. The successful launch of the flagship hearing aid, Oticon Reveal, drove significant growth and further strengthened our overall product portfolio, while Hearing Care and Diagnostics also contributed positively. The strong results put us on track to end the year on an all-time high, enabling us to invest further in innovation to improve the lives of people living with hearing loss.

Globally, Demant estimates hearing aid unit growth accelerated from 3% in Q2 to 6% in Q3. European sales rose 8%, supported by Germany and France and a return to growth in the UK. US Department of Veterans Affairs () unit sales increased an estimated 1%.
Product introductions contributed approximately one percentage point to global unit growth, according to Demant. The company said the US commercial recovery was partly supported by launches, while managed care volumes continued to decline. Global market growth reached approximately 7% by sales value.
The estimates in Demant’s latest financial update used market statistics covering about two-thirds of the global market, supplemented by the company’s assumptions. Demant maintained its previously raised full-year outlook.
