About our testing: This page combines Steve Taddei’s hands-on rating notes for HearingTracker with standardized laboratory results from HearAdvisor. The companies are separate but have overlapping leadership, and Steve is also HearAdvisor’s co-founder and lab director. HearAdvisor determines its testing methods and SoundScores independently of manufacturers; HearingTracker is responsible for this review’s editorial conclusions.
What the lab results show
Signia Pure Charge&Go MaX 7 earned a 4.3 HearAdvisor SoundScore, an A grade, and an Expert Choice award. The overall result combines the lab’s starting fit and professionally adjusted fit.
The clearest benefit of fine-tuning was speech in background noise: the score rose from 2.1 to 2.8 after the lab adjusted the amplification, using the same vented sleeves in both tests. Speech in quiet and streamed-music performance also improved. MaX controlled whistling well in the lab’s feedback challenges, though it did not eliminate it completely.
Own-voice results were favorable with the tested vented sleeves. Their openings let some low-frequency sound escape instead of trapping it in the ear canal, where it can make your voice sound boomy. This part of the lab assessment measures the physical seal, not Signia’s OVP processing.
Your hearing care provider can choose an earpiece to suit your ears and hearing loss. A more sealed fitting can retain more bass for streaming and give the hearing aid greater control over background noise, but may make your own voice sound less natural. The lab scores apply to the vented-sleeve setup; a different fitting can shift that balance.
Understanding the results
HearAdvisor used the standardized N3 moderate hearing-loss profile and MaX’s everyday automatic program. Initial Fit used the manufacturer’s default settings for that hearing loss. For Tuned Fit, an expert adjusted the amplification in an attempt to match targets—the recommended amplification for the test hearing loss. Both fits used the same vented sleeves and standard receivers.
SoundScore summarizes laboratory sound performance and can exceed 5. The separate HearingTracker Score also includes hands-on ownership ratings and price. Neither score predicts exactly what you will hear with your own fitting.

Our early hands-on impressions
We found MaX comfortable to wear, thanks to the shape of the hearing aids and their earwire design. They were easy to handle after professional setup, and we had no difficulties using them. If you are new to receiver-in-canal hearing aids, placing the earpieces may take some practice.
We liked the slightly rougher matte finish on this generation. The portable charging case felt sturdy, although it is on the larger side.
Four AI Systems Working Together
The defining feature of MaX is what Signia calls Acoustic Intelligence. Instead of relying on one large neural network, MaX incorporates four task-specific that operate together across the hearing aid’s processing system. Signia says these networks were trained using approximately 40 million sound samples.
The four components are:
- RealTime Conversation Enhancement (RTCE AI): Builds on the conversation-tracking technology introduced with Signia IX. It identifies and tracks multiple conversation partners and enhances their speech as speakers change during a conversation. Signia says the new version processes 75% more sound data per second than its previous technology.
- Own Voice Processing AI (OVP AI): Designed to keep your own voice sounding natural. Signia says MaX no longer requires the individual OVP voice-training procedure used with earlier platforms.
- Ambient Scene Adaptation AI: Continuously evaluates the broader acoustic environment—including characteristics such as music, reverberation, movement, and other environmental sounds—and adjusts the hearing aids accordingly. Rather than placing each environment into a preset category, MaX continuously adapts its processing as the listening situation changes.
- Dynamic Noise Control AI: Considers what kind of noise is present, where it is coming from, and whether the wearer is actively engaged in conversation. It can then apply more or less noise reduction while attempting to preserve speech and useful environmental information.
The hearing aids also communicate binaurally—ear-to-ear tech that Signia pioneered—so the left and right devices can coordinate their processing.

How MaX Differs From Signia IX
Signia IX was already one of the stronger hearing aid platforms we’ve tested for dynamic conversation. Its RealTime Conversation Enhancement system tracks multiple talkers and creates several processing “focus streams” rather than relying entirely on one narrow directional beam.
MaX keeps that basic idea but adds -driven decision-making around it.
According to Signia, the new chip provides 54 times the processing power and twice the memory of IX while being 50% more energy efficient. RealTime Conversation Enhancement has also been upgraded with AI-based speech detection, and the hearing aids continuously coordinate speech enhancement with noise control, environmental adaptation, and processing of the wearer’s own voice.
That makes MaX less of a replacement for Signia’s conversation strategy than an expansion of it: IX was primarily designed to find and enhance the people participating in a conversation, while MaX is designed to better understand the entire listening scene surrounding that conversation.
Speech in Noise and Group Conversations
Group conversation is clearly the central focus of MaX.
Signia says RTCE AI can detect speech in roughly 50 milliseconds and continually track changing speakers. Its premium MaX 7 model provides three Dynamic AI Focus Streams, allowing separate speech sources to be tracked and enhanced simultaneously. MaX 5 provides one Dynamic AI Focus Stream, while MaX 3 retains the core RTCE AI system but with fewer advanced conversation-processing capabilities.
Signia presented several pre-launch studies suggesting substantial speech-understanding advantages for MaX in noisy group conversations compared with selected competitors. Those results are encouraging, but they are manufacturer-sponsored studies and shouldn’t be treated as a substitute for independent comparative testing.
HearAdvisor’s completed MaX 7 tests, summarized above, now provide a standardized acoustic assessment alongside those manufacturer studies. You can also listen to the MaX lab recordings with headphones to compare the starting setup and the professionally adjusted fitting.
For context, the earlier Signia Pure Charge&Go T 7IX currently has an overall 4.1 HearAdvisor SoundScore and a 4.3 HearingTracker Score. These refer to the tested T 7IX model, which is different from the later Pure Charge&Go BCT IX.
MaX 7 vs MaX 5 vs MaX 3
All three MaX technology levels include the four core Acoustic Intelligence systems, including RTCE , Own Voice Processing AI, Ambient Scene Adaptation AI, and Dynamic Noise Control AI. They also share features including and adaptive directionality, SoundSmoothing 2.0, eWindScreen 2.0, OneConnect connectivity, hands-free calling, support, and tinnitus therapy.
The higher technology levels add more sophisticated processing and fitting flexibility:
- MaX 7: The premium model comes with three Dynamic AI Focus Streams, the strongest Conversation Booster implementation, Spatial SpeechFocus, Auto EchoShield, 12 kHz extended bandwidth, 48 processing channels/20 fitting handles, and three HD Music programs.
- MaX 5: Provides one Dynamic AI Focus Stream, somewhat reduced conversation enhancement, 36 processing channels/18 handles, and three HD Music programs.
- MaX 3: Retains the basic MaX AI architecture and connectivity but reduces some premium speech and environmental processing capabilities. It has 32 processing channels/16 handles and one HD Music program.
As usual, the right technology level depends largely on how often the wearer encounters demanding listening environments rather than simply the severity of the hearing loss.
Bluetooth, Telecoil, and Auracast
Connectivity is another major improvement over the previous Pure Charge&Go IX family.
Signia calls the new system OneConnect, and it combines Bluetooth Classic, Bluetooth , and a telecoil in the same hearing aid. That is significant because Signia previously divided some connectivity capabilities between its Pure Charge&Go IX and Pure Charge&Go BCT IX models.
Pure C&G MaX supports direct audio streaming and hands-free calling with compatible devices, along with PC connectivity and Signia TV streaming accessories.
The hearing aids are also -ready, although Auracast is not yet an active feature at launch. Signia has said full Auracast functionality will be enabled through a firmware update, currently planned by March 2027.
Signia One App and Signia Assistant
MaX introduces the new Signia One app, available for iPhone and Android. It provides controls for hearing programs, volume, streaming, directional focus, tinnitus settings, battery status, and remote support through TeleCare.
The app also includes an updated Signia Assistant with natural-language interaction. Wearers can describe a listening problem or ask a question conversationally, and the Assistant can suggest adjustments, provide troubleshooting assistance, or guide users through supported hearing-aid changes.
Signia’s app documentation says Signia One requires iOS 17 or newer or Android 13 or newer.
Battery Life and Charging
Despite the additional AI processing, Signia rates Pure C&G MaX for up to 30 hours of use on a charge, although actual runtime will depend on streaming, hearing loss, programming, listening environments, battery age, and other factors.
Signia offers both a Desktop Charger Pure 2.0 and Portable Charger Pure 2.0. The portable version includes its own power bank, allowing the hearing aids to be recharged away from an outlet.
A full hearing-aid charge takes about four hours, while a 30-minute quick charge can provide approximately six hours of additional use, according to Signia launch information.

Price and Availability
Signia Pure Charge&Go MaX became available in the United States on August 24, 2026, initially alongside launches in Germany and the Nordic countries, with additional markets following later.
Early U.S. online prices vary considerably depending on technology level and whether professional fitting and ongoing care are included. At this point, we don’t think there is enough established retail data to provide a meaningful typical clinic price range; however, most similar flagship hearing aids range between $3,500–$6,500. As with other prescription hearing aids, the final price can vary significantly according to provider, technology level, included services, geographic location, and insurance benefits.

Our Early Verdict
MaX combines Signia’s conversation-tracking approach with four coordinated systems and broader connectivity. Our early hands-on experience was positive: we found the hearing aids comfortable and easy to use, liked the matte finish, and found the portable charger robust, though on the larger side.
The lab results add a useful fitting lesson. Speech in background noise improved after expert adjustment, and the vented sleeves gave favorable own-voice results. Streamed music improved with tuning but remained a more modest result than speech in quiet. The scores and recordings describe the tested MaX 7 setup, while your provider can tailor the earpieces and programming to your hearing needs.
OneConnect brings Bluetooth Classic, , hands-free calling, and a into one rechargeable . remains a promised update rather than an active feature. These are early findings from completed lab testing and our hands-on evaluation.
