I have a new Oticon ConnectClip. When the wearer touches it, or her clothing brushes against it, I hear loud static noise. Is this normal?

Yes, brushing against any microphone makes noise. What you describe is normal. Find a place to clip the microphone away from clothing and avoid handling it while it is being used.

Yes, this is normal. Picture if you're on the phone with someone and they're rubbing their finger on the microphone. You would hear that through the phone. The connect clip is also a remote microphone so if they are touching the microphone directly you will hear that through the hearing aids.

Yes this is normal. It has a microphone on the ConnectClip that is picking up the soft sound of rubbing and sending it to the hearing aids.  Place the slip where it is not rubbing clothing to improve the static noise.

As others have mentioned - mic noise is normal if someone touches it. It is important that people who use the microphone are counselled on appropriate use. They should avoid touching the mircrophones directly (the silver slit on the surface of the connectclip has microphones in it) and they should clip it/wear it in a manner that is secure. Most people clip it on and just think they can go about their business as usual - but this does not always work out well.

Yes, it is perfectly normal. Keep in mind the ConnectClip is essentially a remote microphone. Any sound directed to the clip with be amplified. Rubbing your hand over the clip will produce a static sound, as will wearing it under clothing, around necklaces and scarves, etc. The ConnectClip should be worn away from anything that may rub over it as the result will be static.
