First direct access to the human auditory nerve could offer new hope for stem cell therapeutics

Hearing impairment is associated with cognitive decline, brain atrophy and tau pathology

Researchers analyzed three large-scale databases (totaling 168,183 participants) to uncover the mechanisms of the association between hearing performance and cognitive function. They conclude hearing impairment is associated with cognitive decline, brain atrophy, and tau pathology, and hearing impairment may reflect the risk for cognitive decline and dementia.
