1 in 3 people feel a degree of embarrassment in wearing an assisted hearing device

A new Sennheiser-commissioned independent study has found that 1 in 3 people ages 45-70 would or do feel a degree of embarrassment wearing an assisted hearing device. This is in sharp contrast to only 1 in 10 people who feel the same way about wearing glasses.

Hearing Healthcare Professionals' Views about Over-The-Counter (OTC) Hearing Aids: Analysis of Retrospective Survey Data

Results from an August 2022 HearingTracker survey of professionals who receive the 'Audiologist Informer' enewsletter show nearly half say they will support patients with OTC hearing aids purchased elsewhere, and a quarter will sell OTC hearing aids in their clinic/website. HCPs expressed over 70% agreement in “concern statements” in 14 of the 17 items about OTC aids, with most concerns relating to safety, counseling, and audiological care.
