New Guidelines Improve Care and Practice Standards for Adults With Hearing Loss

An international task force of 52 hearing experts has developed guidelines and guidance that detail best practices for treating and diagnosing hearing loss. The new Living Guidelines make nine recommendations across hearing screening, specialist referral and evaluation, rehabilitation, and patient outcomes, including patients with PTAs >60 dBHL should receive an assessment for cochlear implants.

Dementia screening test adapted for people with hearing problems

Researchers have adapted an internationally used test which screens patients for dementia and Alzheimer's disease to make it suitable for people with hearing loss.

ASHA Statistics on Ages of CSD Faculty with PhDs

For all PhD faculty in CSD (including those not certified) the median age was 52, down from 56 in 2011. However, in audiology, the median age of certified PhD faculty was 58 in 2021, up slightly from 56 in 2011.
