U.S. Population Data on Hearing Loss, Trouble Hearing, and Hearing-Device Use in Adults: NHANES 2011-12, 2015-16, and 2017-20

Larry Humes, PhD, provides a wealth of data about hearing loss, trouble hearing, and the use of hearing aids and assistive devices. The need for quality OTC hearing aids is driven home by data showing that only about 15% of people with audiometrically defined hearing loss (per WHO definitions) used hearing aids or ALDs—most in the 50-69 age group who had mild hearing difficulties.

"Ally's Act" Reintroduced in Congress to Ensure Insurance Coverage for CIs and Bone-anchored Implants

Congressman Joe Neguse (D-CO) announced the introduction of “Ally’s Act,” bicameral, bipartisan legislation to ensure private insurance covers osseointegrated hearing devices, including bone anchored hearing aids and cochlear implants. Rep Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) and Mike Thompson (D-CA), and Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) and Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) joined the reintroduction.
