I am an 81-year-old retired science & math teacher, with a combination hearing loss pattern: (1) fairly typical, age-related high frequency loss, and (2) fairly atypical reverse slope low frequency loss, similar in both ears. (In fact, the audiogram line from 1500hz down to 250hz for both ears together is the mirror image of that which is typical for an 80-year old.) I have been given a pair of Oticon Nera miniRITE Pro hearing aids (2013 vintage) by a neighbor who has "moved up" to newer aids, to see if they might improve my ability to understand conversational speech (especially from other people who really DO mumble). They do that very well, and they fit very comfortably, but they are not much good for the rest of the audio spectrum. I am wondering if it would be worthwhile getting them reprogrammed to try to smooth out their response to more closely match my hearing ability.
