About the KS9

Costco's latest Kirkland Signature hearing aid (KS 9) is manufactured by Sonova, the same hearing aid company that manufactures Phonak, Unitron, and Hansaton hearing aids, among others. Sonova is currently (as of mid-July 2019) the only hearing aid company with "Made For All (MFA)" universal Bluetooth streaming technology, and with Kirkland Signature 9.0, Sonova's signature audio streaming / hands-free smartphone technology is now available to Costco members nationwide. As usual, Costco's pricing is very aggressive, with the KS9's coming in at $1499.99 per pair.

While some have speculated that the KS9's are the same as the the Phonak Marvel or Unitron Discover, Sonova has indicated that the KS9's are a unique build, and not equalivalent to either model in terms of software or hardware features. Some have speculated that the plastic shell is borrowed from Hansaton, and others have noted that Costco hearing instrument specialists and audiologists are using Phonak fitting software to perform hearing aid fittings.

KS9 Reviews

Hearing aid reviews are fundamentally different from reviews for most other consumer electronic products. The reason is because individual factors, like degree of hearing loss, have a profound effect one's success and overall satisfaction with the product. When purchasing a hearing aid, you'll need to consider more than just your hearing outcome ... Continue reading

I purchased KS9 6 months ago and I was pleased with the lack of any white noise in the background at all. I had to go back to Costco a couple of times to have them adjust the audio curves, and they did the best they could but still my hearing wasn't natural sounding. I purchased a Noalink and and downloaded their Target 7 software and did my own adjustment according to what sounds most natural to me. Now it sounds just like the volume is turned up, and I can hear the S sounds clearly, and it doesn't sound odd any more. I really recommend these HA's. The only thing I would want now is a T-coil, but my Costco won't upgrade them.

Mine failed (no sound) once within the first six months and I got it repaired which took 3 weeks.  It was NOT mistreated and it was NOT ear wax.  The repaired aid also lasted about six months and failed with the same symptoms-no sound.   I gave up after the second failure and put it on the shelf during the pandemic.  After that I could not find it so I requested the free replacement.  Got the replacement about 6 weeks ago.  It has now ALSO failed with the same no sound as the first one.  This time we found out that the problem was that the receiver died.  I wasted a lot of thinking it might be ear wax but it never was.

Worst Costco product that I ever bought and not cheap either.  Minus 1000 stars would be a just rating.

I have had my Kirkland Signature 9.0 hearing aids since September, 2020, but waited until I had some time to write this review.

First, most importantly, the sound quality is considerably better than the Bernafon hearing aids (also bought from CostCo) that I had for nearly a decade.  I do have tinnitus and it is true that these do nothing for that, but I find that if I can keep the hearing aid volume down without losing clarity, it helps.

Now to the complaints that I have seen on-line.

About the batteries.  My Bernafons got 7 days consistently per battery.  Using the Bluetooth to connect my Signature to my phone or to the TV I get a solid 3.5 days.  At roughly $10 / 48 batteries, the annual cost of batteries for the Bernafon was about $22; I change my Signature Batteries on a 3 day schedule (so as not to be caught mid-day), so my annual cost is now $50.  This modest increase should not stop you from buying them.  I do, however, need to take more when I travel but generally this is not a problem.

Next, about people saying that you should not watch TV and text, I confess it took me a week or so to figure it all out, but the key is the following:  When I watch TV, I turn the Bluetooth on my phone or iPad OFF.  It takes just a second - a downward pull from the top right and the Command Center pops up - hit the Blue BlueTooth button and it is off.  Then you can text or do whatever you want without the hearing aids switching to the iPhone to alert you that a text has arrived or been sent and then back to the TV.

As to the TV connectors - these are GREAT.  I have two set up and the hearing aids automatically switch between the two TVs depending on which is closer.  There IS a funny issue in that if I am in my office working WITHOUT the TV on, and my wife turns on the TV in the Bedroom, my hearing aids switch to the Bedroom TV.  Using the button on the hearing aids, however, allows a rapid switch back to the normal "Automatic" setting of my hearing aids.

I hope that this clarifies things for anyone considering them.  They are in my mind a major improvement.

Phone calls in/out. Bluetooth to iPhone  connects  however a crackling noise and intermittent loss of conversation renders them useless. All  other functions work.

Visited my local store several times looking for a fix. I was told the cause is Apple not Costco.

Been over a year still no fix.

Hearing aids are fine but the MyPhonak app is flaky. It doesn’t always connect.

Well I personally don’t like the KS 9.0 T. My issue unlike some other brands are.

1. With my tinnitus it changed the buzzing/clicking to a constant buzz as While wearing them. Which I don’t like personally.

2. Try to change app functionality as Bluetooth connects to hearing aids I leave the phone for a second and go out of range it disconnects from it and your wife answers a call while your out for a minute but when you return it reconnects automatically and it doesn’t matter what settings your in. Same thing with TV adapter it disconnect when leaving room but when you return to the room it reconnects. No setting stays where you put it. Oh I guess you could get up and down and turn the tv adapter off and on Manually.

3. Battery lasts about 24 hours than have to change them because you used the Bluetooth or tv adapter so three days.

4. Use the tv adapter don’t text because it will bounce back and forth to the tv and phone just stop typing for a second and tv pops back.

The sound is good but a bit tinny.  Very hard to detect sound direction.  Bluetooth is horrible, kicks in and out, disconnects at random, sound on the phone is difficult, when outside wind noise is bad, battery live is shorter than advertised by about 1/4.

Costco was recommended to me by the technician who did my hearing test at work. This is my first time using any kind of hearing device and I must say that the testing in the store was highly specific and comprehensive. The audiologist at my Costco is state-licensed and board certified and also wears hearing aids so he had a great deal of information as well as the expertise to fit and tune the set that I now have. Even helped me pick the right color to go with my hair! I bought extra batteries just for good measure and the price at Costco cannot be beat! I have an appointment in 2 weeks to go back and have things adjusted if necessary. Great customer service!

I love the Kirkland hearing aids!!! They are paired with my IPhone and it is incredible to finally be able too hear. I literally withdrew from life basically because I couldn’t hear, so being able too be part of any conversation was impossible! My husband was sooo EXTREMELY patient with me and would repeat what he was saying to me as many times as was needed so I would no what he was saying.  NEVER did he act as though he was frustrated with me. He also just happens to be the greatest man on the planet!  But back to the HA’s, I didn’t have a hands free device to be able too be on my phone when driving or for any reason, now I do, because of my hearing aids! Also the moment that they placed my HA’s in my ears I felt such gratification and instantly felt happy that I once again could be a part of life!  My ONLY complaint has to do with the batteries, because they have to be changed approximately every 3 day’s! Luckily the price of the HA batteries at Costco is extremely low! Everywhere else they are outrageous!  I love, love my Kirkland HA’s and have had them approximately 15 months now. They are the greatest gift I have ever received. Also at Costco they will clean and do just about anything you need at no charge and with a smile. Also you can get a second pair absolutely free within the first year  if you loose or damage them. It must be within the first 12 months though. They don’t ask any questions and order you a new pair and call you when they come in. Zero cost to you! For me they are as though someone gave me back my life! If you have hearing issues, do yourself a huge favor and get your hearing testEd, (also free), and get the hearing aids best suited for you, and live again!

The costco hearing aid dept is very thorough with there exams. I tried the 9.0 BTE. At first I did not like the generic ear piece. I went back for the ear mold. When I got it I didn't care for the design and was going to return them. But they gave me a option to have a soft ear mold. I love them. The aids are a good quality sound. The blue tooth is fantastic. Great price great value.

I did not know you could get an earmold. How much did it cost you for this option ?

I have had high end Phonax and  Resound prior to my purchase of the Kirkland 9.   They do more than either of my previous brands for 1/2 the cost.   The technology is not state of the art and the functions are standard but for my day to day needs they provide  the ability to answer my phone from 20 feet away by a touch on the hearing aid.   So far I have not noticed them burning through batteries but I am not streaming through them.  If they were rechargeable they would be nearly perfect for me.  With. Kirkland Visa for purchase I git an additional year of guarantee guarantee’s .   With the increased possibility of loosing hearing aids with masks coming off and on , the price is right

Price is good.  Quality is not so good. Had Resound for 3-years, and repaired 3 times.  Problem with the dome falling off and having to go to an ENT to remove from ear.. Costco said this is a common complaint for Resound--bad design. .  Bought the new KS 9.0T (Behind the Ear) . The Ear Dome IS small and designed NOT to fall out--good.  Have K9.0  for a month.  Was told K9.0 works with Android to manage sounds. (Resound does not), but Kirkland (Phonak)  did not either- may with an IPHONE? Big problem is that battery in Right Ear (controls Blue Tooth) dies in 2-3 days. This happened continuously-totally unacceptable.  Resound's lasted for a week. The push buttons on the KS9 ear piece are poorly designed to  manually change the sounds--perhaps fine for a person with very small fingers, not easy to  use for up/down volume control with big fingers.  Sound for voice is "harsh", not good for music or TV. No mid-range or base. People say the Blue Tooth speaker sounds like am in a tin can. Ear piece is poorly designed--not "curved" enough to say behind ear. Have to put in the plastic wire inside ear to keep from falling off. Save over $1,000 but   to replace battery every 3 days and still get poor quality sound?? Will return and pay for out of warranty Resound repairs @ $140 each time.

Do not buy these hearing aids if you need a phone that works adequately. Unfortunately, the Kirkland phone has crackling that makes it impossible to have a conversation when using an iPhone. The Kirkland software apparently is not tailored to an iPhone and it does not work well. I brought the Kirkland's back twice and am trying to replace them through a private audiologist (PhD). The dispensers at Costco appear to know nothing about the iPhone incompatibility problem but the private professional knew immediately what the problem is. Frustrating, because otherwise I'm happy with them.

For someone with high frequency hearing loss, these hearing aids have made a big difference especially at work where I am so used to and desensitized to different sounds (I work in a hospital). I was most concerned about feedback while I’m on the phone and worrying about it showing. However, it is barely noticeable and I love how it connects to my Bluetooth so I can talk/FaceTime family and friends automatically without worrying about inserting the AirPods I previously had. It is pricey, but worth the investment! Only thing is battery life can wear out in 5-7 days depending on usage.

Pros:

They work best in situations where there is less background noise. If I am in a very crowded place, it can sometimes be a struggle. Better than nothing though.

They have Bluetooth connectivity and it works well. They retain the memory to connect up to two devices. This means I can have them paired to two phones. To switch between phones I simply turn the BT off on one and on on the other. This process can be done in two seconds.

They are discreet and most don't know you are wearing them.

They can be paired with a TV connector which uses a great app by Phonak to control the volume and outside noises.

They cost $1499 USD. That's it.  Costco doesn't try to upsell you on a long term care plan or other BS.  Costco commits to care for them for three years, which is the length of thier warranty.  You can even have them replaced once during that period of they are lost.

Cons:

You must buy them from Costco, so it may not be easy for folks who live far from a Costco location.

Noisey environments make them turn down which in turn make it harder to hear. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I wish they could amplify voices a bit better in noisey areas.

I'm so frustrated with these hearing aids. They eat through batteries like my teenage boys eat though my pantry. I was told by Costco that this was because its connected to bluetooth, but I don't often have them connected and I'm going through a set of batteries every other day. I turn them off at night (meaning, I open the battery area) but I wake up in the morning to put them in, and the batteries will be dead, even though they were fine the previous evening. There are so many different tones that ping in your ears, but I've had these for 6 weeks now, and I still don't know what most of them mean. I really wish I hadn't let the Costco sales guy talk me into these. I should have spent the extra $300 or so to get rechargeables!

Member

You make good points.  However, I love batteries (312) compared to rechargable.  I've tried both and I'm just a battery guy.  That little watch pocket on my Levi jeans always has fresh batteries in it.  And I use bluetooth all day connected to my phone and my Kirkland batteries last the full 4 days.
I have had the Kirkland 9.0 set for a week and still learning but so far so good.

I love these hearing aids and they worked great with my iPhone 10, then I upgraded to iPhone 12 and the audio quality is unusable . Every time we think it’s fixed the next call to come in is garnered. Ironically they sound great with streaming music and other content from my phone and TV. This is likely an Apple issue, but frustrating nonetheless.

Wife has a pair of KS9s and a TV connector.  When trying to use the TV connector sound level goes up and down without touching anything.  I have Phonak hearing aids from the VA and have zero issues.  Costco sent the hearing aids back and they supposidly replaced everything with the same results. Lots of blame going around.  Bottom line the KS9s are not the same as Phonaks.  Spend the extra money on something else

DO NOT BUY! total waste of money. Had them less than 3 months and they totally crapped out. I am 39, I understand technology, they just completely don't work anymore. Complete waste of $1,500. Way better hearing aids for that price on the market that actually come with a warranty. Do not buy these!!!

"Complete waste of $1,500. Way better hearing aids for that price on the market that actually come with a warranty."

Costco offers one of the best, if not THE best return, repair/ replacement, and warranty policiy in the hearing aid industry. The KS9s purchased through Costco most definitely have a warranty.

What hearing aids are way better for the money in your opinion?

I pretty much love everything about my KS9s. They are only my 2d pair of aids, and I hear enough better with them that it's noticeable to me and to others. The way they handle phone calls and the tv device are vast improvements over a system where I had to wear an intermediary device. I have small power domes and it's like not wearing anything. My single criticism would be that they aren't very good at controlling wind noise (my guess is the position of the mics is what makes the Marvels better at that). Wearing a headband eliminates the wind noise, but I wish it weren't necessary. And of course the price was fantastic.

These Kirkland 9,0 are fantastic I've had mine for 6mo; and they are supper clear and comfortable to boot. I will never go back to a independent hearing provider again. They just want that almighty dollar and once your out the door your on your own with no warranty to speak of and in my case they never even programed them to adjust the volume until my 5th visit when a intern discovered my hearing aids where never set up for that. Go to Costco and they are tops in my book .......I had a very favorable experience at the Costco off of Haggerty in Commerce Mi.

I have had the K 9's since they came out. I have moderate hearing loss and the Costco fitter recommended trying these. I was well prepared to buy any aid they had. Turns out they are fine for my needs. I cannot imagine anything costing $1500 a pair is better. A perfect fit for my needs. I actually prefer batteries to rechargeable and batteries last 3-4 days.  Dealing with Costco and the fitter could not have been better. I highly recommend giving them a try if they suit your needs.

Battery wears out too quickly. I need at least a week so I always change batteries the same day of the week. 3-5 days is Not acceptable. I miss having a dedicated remote. The interphase with IPhone is not ready for prime time. Blue toot is wonky, unreliable and not intuitive. New domes were uncomfortable for me. I took the hearing aids back and went back to my five year old Rextons, also from Costco.

Differences from previous hearing aids are subtle. Favorite feature is TV Connect, but even listening to TV through hearing aids is notably better than old aids. SR2 frequency lowering provides good audibility with more natural sound than KS7 frequency lowering. I definitely prefer Rexton clicksleeves to Phonak domes, but hopefully custom molds will rectify that.  Have had limited opportunity to try out PartnerMic. Would be nice if range were longer, but seems to work well.

The earbuds and filters are a pain to change.  I constantly have issues with the aid turning off and on.  The volume control on the app will raise when I turn on the tv to the point of hurting my ears.  I’m constantly having to reconnect one or both.  The hearing aid center in Fredericksburg has helped some but it’s very difficult to get in to see them.  I am not happy with these aids at this point.

I have worn hearing aids for conductive hearing loss for 40 years. I have horrible ears as a result of uncontrolled ear infections from the day I left the nursery. This hearing aid is amazing and allows me to connect to my Android phone. The only issue which I have found is with technology cutting out the Bluetooth connection occasionally. It's a very powerful aid for its size. I'm glad  they sell it at Costco.

Constantly dropping the call back to my phone, or just not connecting in the first place.  The app isn't showing battery strength.  Static when I'm on calls, switching from ear to ear.  Phonak says Costco probably hasn't done the right update to make it work better with the app.  I'm not sure that's the issue however seeing I'm hearing occasional pops of static while typing this and I'm not even on a call.

Having the exact same issues.  Costco claims they have done everything right. They sent them to the manufacturer for repair but it did not help at all.  Costco next said the issues were the fault of my phone, so I purchased a brand new iPhone 11 Pro Max.  Same exact issues.  Static when typing and when on calls.  Calls switch back and forth from the phone to the hearing aid at random times.  Folks on the other end say they are having difficulty hearing me, which is kind of ironic.

These cost less, but they deliver less too.  The sound is louder but the sound quality is far inferior to that I've experienced with other brands.  This seems like a case of getting what you paid for, which isn't really a good thing when it comes to something like hearing.

I went from excited to frustrated.  I LIKED answering phone calls with the 9.0 on my iPhone 6s running ios 11.   But today I upgraded to iPhone 8 running 13.3.1 and now my hearing aids no longer connect to the phone permanently (like listening to music or making calls).  Very frustrated and disappointed.  Please update the app and make them work again!

After fighting with the VA for the past 2 years to replace my 6 year old hearing aids, I finally bought Kirkland 9.0 aids! All I can say is "These are the best hearing aids for the best price with the best service and warranty out there", I can hear again!

I just got my hearing aids. They are great, but I'm having a bit of an issue with the tubing in my right ear. I have super small ear canals and the bud/dome is not staying in all that well. I cut the plastic string off as it was sticking straight out and was super itchy. Now, I may be sorry as it might have kept the unit in my canal better. I may have to return for a new tube. I have such small ears and spacing from the top of my ear to the canal...and I want the hearing aid to be discreet. The sound is good, overall. I have some background noises that I will need to learn to discard. The blue tooth on my computer is not recognizing the hearing aids, but hat could be user error. I'm happy with the units, but I do think I'll need to get the tubing we done in order to be comfortable wearing them.

No worry as the anchor (plastic retaining) clips are user replaceable, Costco gave me 5 replacement anchors for free.  I also believe there are 2 additional styles of ear plugs for the hearing aids I'd check with Costco.

I didn't plan on replacing my Rexton Trax 42 aids (also from Costco) for at least another year, but the price of the KS9s and the fact they would work with my Android phone without an intermediate device lured me to try them. If it were just my own opinion, I would not be sure if they helped me hear better, but I have had others remark on the improvement. It isn't huge, but it's noticeable, particularly in the high-ceilinged echoey environments where I train and show my dogs and the instructor or judge is almost always a distance away. These aids are so comfortable I sometimes find myself touching the wires because I can't believe they're in place, and they do stay in place. I had custom molds before, because domes wouldn't stay in place, and the molds only helped the problem slightly. I was still constantly pushing them back into place. The KS9s have small power domes, and they rarely move. (The downside of this comfort is for the first time I understand how someone could start to shower without removing their aids.) I'm wearing these aids longer and more consistently because they're so comfortable. The way they handle phone calls is wonderful. When I first had the KS9s, I asked everyone I spoke with if they could hear me clearly, and they all said they did, so I stopped worrying about it. Since I disliked wearing the necessary intermediary device for BT with the Trax aids, I almost never could directly answer a call but always had to put the thing on, connect it, and call people back. Before getting hearing aids, I had about given up watching tv. With the Trax, I started again but often decided it wasn't worth the bother because it meant the intermediate medallion and then the tv streamer, and I often had to try several times for one or both of those things to connect. The KS9s simply connect to the tv device with no trouble. It's great. I think the low battery warning on the Trax was better. It beeped every couple of minutes. The KS9s give a warning and then nothing for something like half an hour. If I'm busy I find myself ignoring the first warnings and all of a sudden realizing the aid is dead. The only real problem I've had with the KS9s is wind noise. The Costco audiologist has done everything she can and even consulted Phonak, and wind is still an aggravation, even when in my opinion there's hardly any wind. Right now in winter I'm waring headbands outside, but in warm weather I know I'm going to have to use covers on the aids. All in all, I'm delighted with these aids.

The Kirkland signature 9 is not as comfortable to wear as the previous two Signature hearing aids I own. I am aware of teh hearing aid pice in my ear all the time. It's also not as well made. It takes an inordinate amount of force to open and close the battery compartment. I had to remove the previous hearing aids in a noisy restaurant because teh hearing aids amplified teh ambient noise so much that I could not understand the people talking at my table. The Kirkland Signature 9 is much, much batter in a noisy restaurtant

We ordered the S9.0's for my Husband 2.5 weeks ago. The great thing that happened when the hearing specialist was selecting the model is that a Telecoil version was available for the same price! Of course, we ordered that T-Coil model. The only caveat is that we might not have anywhere locally to test them out. :-( It remains to be seen when my Husband will be able to test this feature. He has only been wearing the HAs for less than a week but we are already compiling a list of questions and hopefully program modifications that can be done (1. he was in a noisy garage/shop [no equipment running] with lots of guys talking and couldn't hear the person in front of him. The background noise overpowered the conversation. 2. We also got a TV Connector. The Constant beeping when the TV Connector connects or disconnects when leaving the TV area is driving him nuts. Also, the auto-connect is a big p.i.a. He wants the ability to connect to the TV WHEN he WANTS to connect to it, not auto. Someone mentioned in the forums here that the Program can be altered to manually connect/disconnect.) There are other things but my Husband will give them a fair chance after they are adjusted before considering a return. He's coming from Costco/Resound HAs from 2017. Those Resounds must have known that he was getting new HAs as the left one totally crapped out the week before picking up the new one. There is a little warranty left (until 3/8/20) so we are having them sent in for a repair. The biggest plus (and maybe only in comparison to the Resounds) are the ability to use Bluetooth and an *Android* phone with the HAs. The Costco "Easy Line" hearing aid app sucks (especially in comparison to the Resound SMART app). Hardly any features within the app. Only adjustment is volume and even that isn't great when using the TV Connector device. Using the on-HA volume control works better in this situation. Overall, Husband is still playing with and getting use to these new S9.0's. Right now, it's just too early to tell if they will work out or not.

Would you mind sharing with me if your husband has this issue as well.  When I leave the TV room the hearing aids disconnect which they should however they constantly have a puffing sound like a puff of air.  Do his do this?  It's very anoying!

I am sorry to say that my Husband has in fact returned these Kirkland Hearing Aids and once again purchased Costco's latest Resound Version. The Kirkland's just didn't perform as well the Resounds especially for connectivity to his Android Cell Phone and his two Resound TV streamers. He previously had Resound HAs from Costco.

I was shamed by my wife and daughter into having my hearing tested. My audiologist, Susanne, at Costco in Ft Myers/Estero was excellent; the test is free, the one hour "fitting" follow-up was included in the price $1,499 a pair price, as was the 2 week follow up visit. Upon fitting, in the booth, it was a near religious experience as I hadn't realized what I was missing. Kirkland 9.0 aids are great and Bluetooth enabled, batteries at Costco were only about 17 cents each....no comparison to high drugstore prices. 180 day no questions asked money back guarantee is unheard of, as is the free cleaning...a friend paid $5,000 for her hearing aids and cleanings are $50 !!!!! I would highly recommend !!

Returned my KS 8.0 to Costco a 4 days ago due to various dissatisfaction within my 180 day trial period. Mainly, I was so annoyed by the fact that my phone would keep ring in my ears and I could not answer it because the phone was in another location. Sometimes I was unable to find my phone since it does not ring on the phone anymore. KS 9.0 is a major up grade. 1. Much better feel in the ear canal. No longer have to adjust the depth. Very comfortable cones that I barely notice, huge improvement over 8.0. The fit of the HA over the ear is perfect, light, and tight. Can be active with and it stays on. I was very nervous about trading in my 8.0's for a 9.0 as the sound quality improve my life. The 9.0's are a huge improvement in sound quality and reduced background noise. After 5 minutes of wearing any funky sounds filter out in my brain. Plastic chip bags can be dreadful enemies to HA wearers. The 9.0 have allowed me to tolerate sounds that drove me crazy with 8.0. Due to mic sensitivity, I currently hear my own voice more than with previous HA. Maybe an adjustment. Day 4 and still on the same battery. Love that I can answer a call with a touch of the hearing aid and hang up just as easily. Application not as good as 8.0. Mics for talking on phone do not seem to work well. People have trouble hearing me when I talk on the phone. Will need to adjust, or just a flaw. Have not explored all options yet. Great device for the price.

I got the 9.0 hearing aids as a loaner while my 8.0 edition is being repaired. So glad for the opportunity, since these are definitely not as good as the version 8. Uncomfortable, earpiece falls out all the time, lots of feedback with no way to stop it. Some sounds are amplified for awhile, then stop. Also the whooshing sound that others reported. I will wait for the next version or another brand and not buy these,

I've had the Kirkland 9.0s for 5 days now and the they're hurt my ear canals. Contrary to the Kirks 7s I used to have where you just pushed lightly to set them in your ears, these you have to force them further in to get somewhat of a clear sound. Once that's done, if you chew/speak/yawn or do whatever with your jaw the plugs move around and the sound gets muffled again until you use the tip of your finger to ram 'em back in. I was sooo looking forward to the tech behind these but I'm not impressed so far. Going for a follow-up in a few days and will report back...
Mirkee

I'm in the same boat.  The hearing aid goes farther in the ear and the dome is not as cushiony.  In my case, I think the wire is too short and when making the turn it rubs agains a part of my ear.  Whatever it is, it hurts!  It hurts more when I smile or grimace.  Wondering if other domes would be available?

Member
Just got mine yesterday. After wearing for 3 hours I had to remove them as they hurt my ear lobes where the wire connects to hearing aid behind my ear. Also I find them difficult to insert into my ear canal and my inner ears were extremely itchy. Never had this problem with the previous 2 hearing aids I purchased at Costco. I may need to return these if they cannot make them comfortable.

The KS9s really help. The TV Connector really clarifies impressively. Reruns I watched are so much clearer. Better documentation on some aspects of the TV connector (like using the Optical connector vs the analog connector) would have shortened the learning curve. Other operational features such as long pressing the volume button to reconnect after walking out and back in range could have been emphasized more in the instructions. Using Easy Line to do this is too slow. Except for skimpy documentation I am really impressed with my KS9s. More info on connection with iPhones would have been nice. The iPhone has this app (ear icon) which you would think is the way to go but isn't mentioned in the instructions. Similar gaps exist using the KS9 with Ford Sync especially with the Maps application.

Can hearing aids be connected to computers sound ? I have easy line app, are there any other iPhone apps that work with 9.0 hearing aids ?

I am very impressed with the performance and resolution.  This is my third set of hearing aids in 10 years.,  I have moderate hearing loss,  My problem is that they hurt my ears, especially my right ear.  Going for a follow up in 4 days.

It should work with most devices or apps that work with Bluetooth, however I could not get mine to connect to laptops or desktop computers, but work fine with any media streaming apps like Spotify, Youtube, Twitch, and calls, basically any sound that comes off your phone while connected to Bluetooth.

I was one of the first to purchase the KS-9s at my Costco store. I had just purchased the KS-8s a month before and returned for the newer model. The bluetooth is glitchy, causing the volume to drop when I get a text or anytime a noise is generated from my phone. The bluetooth handsfree works fairly good but often cuts out. The devices automatic setting is sometimes irritating as it often incorrectly desides what sounds I should hear. I returned the KS-9s for repair as the batteries would die in two days. The replacements came yesterday. Truly, I am sorry that I returned the KS-8s, as their automatic function is much better. Time will tell with the latest replacements.

I am pleased with my 9.0 after using my 5.0 for five years. Bluetooth streaming of music is great. I have worn them for one week and I can't feel them in my ears. I do have two questions 1. numerous articles state there are four user programable channels available but under Programs mine only have "automatic" and "Bluetooth streaming". Is this something that the dispenser failed to set up? Even my 5.0 hearing aids had four programs that could be customized. Any comments?
Jim M
I am curious as well, if there are other programs available other than automatic in my settings list. I am new to HA's, two months now, so I think I've adjusted to the initial nuances. My concern is when listening to car audio or playing my guitar, highs suddenly become hushed for a bit, then come back. At a meeting in a large, quiet room, kept hearing a whooshing(?) sound, on for 10-15 seconds, then off 10-15 seconds. So, I know it wasn't the air conditioner.  I might be happier were there a couple of manual programs for these situations, as I'm thinking "automatic" is trying too hard to identify and adjust to rapidly changing environments; i.e. highs & lows of semi-loud music or someone speaking in an open room.
Omar Stumpfs
For more programs, go to your hearing aids dispenser and ask them to tune the automatic one and add others according to your needs. I got one that works in restaurants or crowded places where it would make closer sounds louder while diminishing background noise, so it works like the hearing aids are focusing on people next to you instead of the crowd noise.

Hi, Omar. I asked for the exact same thing as you from my audiologist at Costco, ie a programme to boost sounds close to me.  I find that I am hearing too many distracting sounds from a distance while in a large restaurant.  Unfortunately my audiologist said she did not have anything to adjust for distance.  She adjusted the frequencies to those for human speech instead.  I would be very grateful if you can let me know anything that your audiologist did to get closer sounds to be amplified more.  I'm really happy with these Signature 9 hearing aids after 2 months, except for this.  Thanks.

Daniel
Omar Stumpfs
I know for sure that she adjusted the levels of my automatic program to tune it down because it was a bit loud on the higher ranges and the noise reduction threshold, so in closed environments it would lower down the volume more than needed. As for the "restaurant" program, I believe that she just added it with default values, it's not perfect, if the place it's too loud then I would still get every sound even if I am far, but for what it's supposed to do, it works very well, which is amplifying nearby sounds while tuning down background noise, I mostly use it in my car to avoid hearing the road noise; if you are not happy with it, what you could do is to lower down the volume by 1 while using this program.

Pairing to iPhone 11 Pro Max now works with the iOS 13.1.3 update. Overall they are great hearing aids, I'm having issues while listening to radio in my car, the hearing aids are paired to my phone and my phone is connected via bluetooth to my car; I don't know if it has to do with the direction of which the sounds are coming from, but I can sense a volume drop at random times. I also experience some clogging in my ears after a prolonged use.
Member
I'm having the same problem with clogging. Were you able to get an answer?  Thanks
Omar Stumpfs
Yes, just poke more holes in the dome, that should do it

For clogging, I pull the aid out just a tiny fraction and it solves the problem.  The depth is crucial to get right so I am always adjusting the depth along with the programs and volume.

Best hearing aid I ever bought from Costco. It has significantly improved compared to all previous ones I tried or used. Until very recent time I used to use to answer phone and play music ver effectively. Unfortunately, since I upgraded to iPhone 11 I lost these 2 important functions. There is a problem with the Bluetooth connections with iPhone 11. I hope an Easy Line app update may solve this problem.

Really expected more from these. No user tone (bass, mid or treble) controls. On bluetooth phone, my voice is not loud enough and annoying delay. Battery door very stiff and feels like you are breaking the hearing aid. Overall sound quality is tinny. User cannot tell which auto switching of noise cancellation is on, and noise cancelling wonders in and out. For an industry that charges so much, these sound worse than $30 bluetooth earbuds. Can't wait for Sony and Apple to make theirs with full user control.

They are glitchy. Music program takes over and volume control does not work. Split volumes are neutralized by an automatic prog change and opening the app restores split. Automatic noise prog goes and comes in noise. Other than that the best aides owned in 10 years. Telephone streaming is like being in same room.

I’ve been wearing my new KS9.0 hearing aids for a week now and have some general impressions to share and one major complaint. My old hearing aids were from Phonak, the company that makes the KS9.0s for Costco. I had them about 5-6 years. Before I bought the KS9.0s Costco tested my hearing and found that I had suffered further losses in the high frequency range since my last hearing test and adjustment of the old Phonaks, so the new HAs reflected that and part of the improvement Im hearing may simply be due to that adjustment. That said, I am loving the improved hearing with my new HAs. It is immediately apparent on putting them on in the morning. I hear my sandals squishing on the carpet as I walk. The racket made by running water into the kitchen sink is startling. Clearly I’ve been missing a lot and the KS9.0s are restoring that, which is wonderful. I’m sensing some improvement in restaurants and at the theatre but not as much as I had hoped. However, I can’t be sure whether this is a problem of the HAs or a general failure of people to articulate. So far I am relying on the built-in HA software to adjust for different hearing environments. At my two week appointment at Costco I will be asking for some of the manual controls to be added to my phone app. Battery life appears to be about the same as my old Phonaks; I wear these about 12 hours a day and the first batteries lasted 6 days. My more substantive comments have to do with the Bluetooth capabilities of the HAs. In general these are amazing. However they are imperfect and I’m hopeful that reviews like this one can help the manufacturer make further improvements. The ability to answer phone calls entirely using the HAs is wonderful and I’ve had great success doing it. I have an older car without a Bluetooth connection to the car sound system. Now, with the KS9.0s, when I hear a call coming in (via a tone in my ear), I push one of the buttons on top of the HA and receive the call. The fidelity in hearing the caller is excellent. More surprising is the apparent fidelity of my voice, as picked up by the tiny microphone in the earpiece of the KS9.0. I’ve made several calls and uniformly the person at the other end has been able to hear me without a problem, even against the background noise of the moving car. I’ve been very impressed and am ecstatic about this feature. The only downside is that there is no way to safely identify the caller before picking up, so I now answer more spam calls than I normally would have. Likewise, streaming music and podcasts directly into my HAs has been a huge boon to me. The Bluetooth streaming is flawless and the quality of sound quite good. Now for the negative. Sometimes one wants to hear streamed music through a Bluetooth speaker system, even with the in-the-ear capability of the KS9.0s. Fullness of stereo sound would be one reason. Listening to music with friends is another. Listening with noise-canceling headphones on an airplane is a third. The problem is that in this circumstance the Bluetooth connection to the KS9.0 seems to interfere with the Bluetooth connection to the remote speaker, causing frequent (in one test, 7 skips in 6 minutes) cut-outs that are reminiscent of the skipping of a scratched phonograph record (for those readers of a certain age). I’ve tried to listen to four different Bluetooth speaker systems with my KS9.0s and the skipping effect is apparent on all four. These are: Cambridge Soundworks OontZ Angle 3 Ultra; Edifier R1700BT; and the VicTsing Bluetooth FM Transmitter for Car; Bose Quiet Comfort 35 (Series I) Noise Cancelling Headphones. Each of these devices performed flawlessly when I was wearing no HAs or my old Phonak HAs; clearly it is the BT technology of the KS9.0s that is the source of the problem. In addition, needless to say, there is no problem using the KS9.0s to listen to music streamed from the same source (Spotify) through hard-wired speakers connected either to a computer or home stereo system. Unfortunately it is not simply a matter of temporarily disconnecting the KS9.0 BT in order to continue to use the HA to listen to the remote BT speaker. What happens is that after a few seconds with music coming out of the remote speaker, the HA BT reconnects and the sound is directed into the HA. Apparently the only way to smoothly stream music from the smartphone to a remote BT speaker while wearing the KS9.0 would be to completely remove the HA from the list of BT devices in the phone by hitting “forget this device” in Settings; then, after the listening experience, re-establish the BT connection to the phone. Not very convenient, plus, of course, in the meantime one has severed the ability to take calls through the HAs. There is a second, relatively minor problem having to do with how the BT hierarchy is managed by the HAs when streaming through speakers. It appears that the operative connection is always the “last to connect”. So if I am wearing my HAs and then connect a BT speaker, the music streams (with cut-outs) through the remote speaker. If I am already listening to the remote speaker and turn on and install the hearing aids, the music switches to my HAs. If I am streaming music to remote BT speakers, leaving my phone near the speakers so as not to break the connection, and temporarily leave the room (thereby breaking the BT connection to my HAs), when I return to the room my HAs sense the BT transmission and reconnect, at which point the HAs become the “last to connect” and music begins streaming through the HAs. This last effect is annoying but understandable and manageable. But the constant cut-outs while listening to music streamed through BT speakers are a problem that I hope can be addressed successfully in some kind of software update. I will be raising this issue with Costco in my two-week follow-up visit. In spite of this significant BT issue, I have to say that I am overjoyed by the advantages of the BT connectivity and even if Kirkland/Phonak cannot fix this I will not give up this feature – although I might look into a better, more expensive, product if there are HAs that don’t have this issue.

This is very well articulated and parallels my own experience with the KS-9s.  When you next visit Costco, may I suggest you take a printout of your text and urge your specialist to label it "To KS-9 Product Manager" and pass it up the foodchain.  The product manager is THE person who can make it happen or not, and management will love your store personnel for taking the initiative.
Member

You're very clear about the issues...but I believe they are a consequence of how Bluetooth works and that there are no adjustments or changes your hearing provider can do to resolve these issues. The only workaround I can think of is to use an older phone or your computer as the spotify source for your Bluetooth speakers and make sure that you remove the Bluetooth speakers using "forget device" from your phone.

I was told by the Costco technician that the Easy Line Remote SW would operate with my Android LG K425. When purchased the KS9 the SW worked ok but not now. When I used the SW compatibility checker it stated my cell was not compatible. I purchased the KS9 with the expectation I could use the SW to eliminate noise in a restaurant. The only option I have now is to turn down the amplification. If you want to use this SW be sure to check if you cell model is compatible.

Received the Kirkland 9.0 hearing aids over a week ago and am very pleased with the product. They replaced 10 year old Starkey product and the features and enhancements are significant. I would highly recommend this product based on a very competitive price point for the features provided.

My issue is bluetooth related. When streaming they are very finicky and completely non acceptable. I'm hoping for software updates to fix this. Further, when talking on the phone I've had issues where my voice drops out or buzzes and pops, I do not trust them four important calls. Yesterday, I was streaming to a Bose bluetooth speaker and the hearing aids kept causing it to disconnect, finally I unpaired the aids and had to keep canceling continued pairing requests to finally make it work. I really wasn't these to work as advertised, they are new, I hope Phonak can quickly won software fixes. I went back to Costco and they called Phonak and found out they're hearing these complaints frequently and working on fixes.

I was able to download the Android app and give it a long run through....So quickly, Here's what I found... It's basically FULL bluetooth...Yeaaa!! I, bye the way am returning the Brio III from Costco...from the same MFG...but they feel and sounded years ...not weeks...apart. So, I could stream Spotify, Google Music, and IHeart Radio. So the weird thing I found was that IHeart Radio wouldn't stream unless I started the Easy Line Remote app...which I downloaded. Once I started easy app, IHeart would stream normally...very weird on that one. If I restarted the phone, I had to restart the Easy Line app for IHeart...but not anything else. The sound quality of the KS9's was excellent. Much better than the phonak Brio III's with Intermediary device, that I returned. I did not experience any feedback. There also seemed to be less static than the Brio's. The KS9's were not as tinny sounding. Better depth for sure, especially with music playing. The full use of bluetooth saves the day. No device in between, no sound cutting out, no Auto reset of the Phonak app volume when playing different sound sources on my phone....SO MUCH BETTER!...can't wait to get my actual pair in a week or so. Phone call capability, was ok...It crackled a bit and the person on the other end said it was not particularly good with some crackles as well. Since the mic is on the hearing aid, I'm surprised it worked at all ...so, this is something to be aware of. For me, I didn't care on this particular feature..but I know it's critical for lots of people. We'll see how my actual pair are when I get em. The battery realistic life may be down as low as 5 days, depending on how much phone use you do, which I'm told has the highest battery draw. Your mileage may vary.... So overall...I am saving $1500.00 VS the Phonak's I returned and get much better sounding devices, with wayyyy better features....and the 3 year Costco warranty and Loss Warranty, which is lose each 1 once in 3 years and get a replacement for each...probably a refurb. Good Luck out there!!

I am coming from a Phonak Audeo V90 which I like very much. Its weakness was understanding speech in noisy restaurants. It's strength was natural sounds and an excellent music program. I tried Oticon OPN and OPN S, both in the highest feature models. I actually liked the OPN better because the OPN S seemed to provide too much speech information, which was sometimes confusing when surrounded by conversations. Based on my love of the V90 Phonaks I couldn't wait to try the Kirkland KS 9.0. I have been wearing them only two days (barely enough to get used to them) but am convinced that these are not only enormous value but actually are fantastic aids. Feedback, a big deal with Oticon, which they addressed in their lastest aids is non existent in the KS 9.0. Even cupping your hand over the aids (which I do to check that they are working) does not produce feedback. How this is achieved remains a mystery. Another upside is that these are quiet aids. Somehow background noise is magically surpressed. So far the only downside is the Bluetooth to iPhone operation during calls. There seems to be a reliability issue. While I could hear the party I was talking to, my voice was frequently dropped to the other party. Reparing did not fix this. I am fairly sure that this can be fixed with a software revison since several of my trials with other brand's Bluetooth connection worked well. A nice feature is that the KS 9.0 uses the microphones in the aids for outgoing speech. When it worked I was told my speech was natural. The Easy Link app works well with the Bluetooth connection and is a great way to switch programs and adjust volume when desired. The Automatic Program works really well, so I asked that the manual programs be adjusted to provide something different (like more noise suppression). I will learn more as time goes on and no doubt will request adjustments. However, while I could not justify spending $5-6k on replacements for the V90 Phonaks (that are good aids), spending $1,500 was a no brainer. Please note that these comments are very subjective and based on limited experience, particularly with the KS 9.0 aids. The bottom line: Everyone looking to upgrade needs to give these a try.

Great hearing aids! Only 1499.99 when other places want $6000.

Bad in restaurants

How can this be a valid review? The K9s are just now rolling out to COSTCO's site. It would seem to be impossible for someone to have had them fitted, purchased, and tried out in a restaurant setting by July 16th.
Mdbo's 2XL

Since the 16th of July I've had a pair of KS-9s without any optional manual programs.    Went to a moderately noisy restaurant today, July 18th 2019, and was able to discern the speech of both people I was with.  The people I was with were both female, and that voice range is the most difficult for me to comprehend.  So far the KS-9 all auto option is working well for me.

Got my KS9.0 aids last Friday Aug 2 and went to a very very noisy restaurant Sunday afternoon. With the "Automatic" program I couldn't understand my wife, son or the waiter so I selected the "Speech in loud noise" program and the noise was cut at least in half. I could then understand what everyone was saying with no problem. I have had these aids for almost a week now and they are wonderful, much better than my Rexton Trax 42 that I got over 4yrs ago. The only problem is with outgoing phone calls when I am in a noisy place like the gym. The Easy Line Remote software could use some work. During this less than a week I have had to delete the program and reinstall 3 times because it hung up and wouldn't quit. It's also a real pain to unpair and pair to another bluetooth device like my Mac and then unpair from the Mac and repair to my iPhone 6+. Over all these are fantastic aids in all situations that I have been in during the past week including loud noise in the noisy restaurant and the gym. When streaming music it's great being able to move the slider between hearing almost nothing but music or moving the slider to the left to hear more of someone talking, etc.

I have not bought these HA.  I mainly want to comment on Bluetooth in HA.  I bought the first generation Phonaks  w. BT about 16-17 months ago that I now use. When I first got them, the BT was really unusable.  The other person really could not hear me well.  When I went to return them, the audi set a software update had come in and loaded it.  After that, they worked well enough to keep.  With a couple more updates over the next few months they now have been working as well as the over the ear BT headset I had worn for years even after I got my first HA 7 years ago.  I am on the phone a lot for business.

The one thing someone should review is how long the small 312 batteries last.  My Phonaks w. BT takes the larger 13 battery.  Even with that, depending on how much I am on the phone, they only last five or six days.  My old HA w. the 312 battery would last a week.  These Costco HA take the smaller 312 battery, according to the tech information that was posted.

Tip - if you use the BT function to take calls, you can set some phones to answer automatically on the first, second, or third ring.  That means you can leave the phone in your pocket and not touch it and start talking right away.  If your phone doesn't have the automatic answer option, you can download an app - at least on android phones.

I just got my KS9s a month ago, and the bluetooth is pretty problematic. Actually, it works pretty well on the phone, but ... you can only pair the HAs to one device. So if you want to pair them with your computer, you have to tell your phone to forget the HAs.  Well, that's kind of a nuisance. Then, recently, when connecting HAs to computer, they only connect for voice, not audio. One of the main things I want BT for is to stream music that my wife doesn't care for to my HAs. Now that doesn't seem possible. A Phonak Audeo Marvel user told me Phonak had fixed the issue with only being able to pair to one device in their firmware upgrade.

I understand that KS9 users may not get all the feature upgrades that Phonak Audeo Marvel users get, but we should get the bug fixes. Since it's a long trial period, I will keep them for now, but if bluetooth isn't working better, I will return them.

Has anyone tried pairing their KS9s directly to their TV with Bluetooth output?  I had no trouble pairing mine to my Pixel 3 XL phone but cannot get them to pair to my TV.
Member
So far I have not found a way to directly pair them with my smart TV.
RDB

I played with this pairing to a second TV and my computer, worked great to both, however they were no longer paired to the phone or the other tv which simply means the KS9's can only be paired to one, so that is the value of the BT remotes ($100 each) which you can have multiples of. Pairing to the BT remotes is easy and only requires a push of the pairing button. When you change to one of the others,  pair to that one, so only one will stay paired at a time, in addition to the Smartphone, which will cancel out your link to the BT when you have a call. So it really works very well.

All hearing aids can only pair to one device at a time, that I know of. These are that way, my old Phonak’s and Opticon’s the same.

I am getting the new KS9's today.  I have tried them in the costco and they work great in trial.  I have read a lot of issues with the Blue tooth and saw your comments on "BT Remotes"  for pairing. Can you give me more info on these?  Brand, where to buy, how it works?

Thanks Rod

I was referring to the "TV Connector" which will stream audio from any audio device, and is available from your Costco Hearing Aid Center.

I don't have the KS90 Aids, but I'll have my hearing exam next month. I'm currently using Phonak's earlier generation BT hearing aids that required an intermediary device to stream from digital sound sources other than an iPhone, but I was able to wear a pair of Audeo V90s for a week when my earlier Phonaks were misplaced in a hotel room by the cleaning staff. Fortunately, they were found, because replacing them with V90s would have cost me $6,000!. While testing the V90's I was able to test streaming from my LG OLED TV, which worked wonderfully. Doing the same from my iPhone occasionally caused troubles because the hearing aids would switch programs when the furnace fan would come on.

My question is that when I tested the v90s, the in-ear domes were much flatter (more like an umbrella than a conical insert), but MUCH more comfortable than my previous generation Phonaks. Does anyone here know whether one can choose among dome styles with the KS9.0 hearing aids?

Thanks so much

That’s why they offer the TV adapter. If you try to pair to multiple devices with any live powered Bluetooth device you will always have trying take from the other.

The costco hearing aid specialist is not knowledgeable on adding the program choices or customizing sound beyond the basics.  Does anyone know where I can get a FULL user guide that shows ALL the program mode choices that can be added to the phone app including what user customization is possible on the custom program modes available.  They seem to treat the users as idiots and set the unit to auto only, while the HA clearly does a lot more.  Also, has anyone found a way to pair to other BT outputs to stream from a TV without the overpriced box.  Also, to use the cell phone mic for making phone calls, for the ear mics are not sensitive enough for others to hear.  I really can't wait for Apple or Sony or ??? to make a truly customizeable HA at a reasonable price.  Something that uses wireless charging, graphic EQ, and your choice of building the compression values.
RDB

I concur that the Costco uses dispensers that have basic knowledge of the product and its capabilities.

I have severe loss, and use the c-shell with the most powerfull receiver, which has worked great, no feed back and plenty of volume available. We started out with the automatic only program, pretty good. However strange sounds occasionally, worst occur watching TV open air, and when music was in the background or at interludes the HAs would escalate the volume to a blurry state, it would then return to normal when the music ended, was discerning.  I do not believe the dispenser I dealt with really believes me, but did agree to change my programs, to one that is for quiet environments, and one the is for noisy environments. Is working pretty well in either, but the hype says there are 3 possible manuals.

Hi, I agree about the APP having more programs than just Auto-Noise and Streaming (with Balance) Someone on this forum mentioned an outside concern that you pay for the software to program different functions-frequency-background noise etc--I asked for a link but have notrecieved it yet--As for Blue Tooth and the TV, I have a new laptop and it has blue tooth, I am able to pair my Kirkland 9.0 to it and use it for streaming movies, youtube tv etc--as for my TV I have been using an adapter for a pair of blue tooth earbuds and it works fine but I have to take my HA out--I am going to experiment pairing the same adapter with my HA if it works I will give you the link on Amazon I got it--I think it was about 25 $

I share your wish, but I fear realization is a bit off in the future. The AirPods Pro are only $250, but they're absolutely huge compareed to contemporary hearing aids, and there are some simple analog sound physics that will be an enormous challenge (such as how to get real Mahler 8th or Bach Cantata organ bass out of those tiny emitters). BT will continue becoming more user friendly, but we'll need to worry about security implications (just think of hearing aids getting hacked so that when the wearer hears evil voices it's NOT because the wearer has mental health problems!)

I think I would trade the cosmetic issues for amazing sound that includes noise canceling; after all, premium earphones for those of us without hearing problems are enough of a fashion statement already that there are plenty of counterfeit AirPods on the market.

I have purchased the Kirland 9.0 and have had one my right ear only (was told the left ear was too far gone for one to help unless I added a cross over transmiter) for about 5 weeks. I have been back for adjustments 3 times and although my complaints have improved various complaints, the sound quality of speech is still tinny. The app is very inadequate as it only basically sets the volume and auto and noise and when I can get it paired on my galaxy the streaming works. I would like to adjust (tweak) the freq and noise settings myself

This is my first HA and although it has improved my hearing, and I think I am getting there with the adjustments,  I would so much like an app that I can control the adjustments myself - Someone mentioned that the app should have 4 auto program settings and maybe the audiologist did not set them up, (any help here?) also has anyone tried another app with these 9.0 units? Finally, does anyone have a printout of what the audiologist can set on these 9.0 aids--I see him programming on the software and a ton off options are available--I would like to know what they all are so on my next visit I can say please try these! Thanks in advance for any answers -I like this forum

Have had mine for six months and for the most part they are fine.  However, now out of the blue I can't get either of them to stay connected to Blue Tooth.  My wife and I are fairly proficient with Apple stuff, how Blue Tooth works, etc.  But I've tried fifty times to get my hearing aids to connect to my Iphone and stay connected and they won't.  Interestingly, they connect and work perfectly with my Apple Laptop.

I've put in brand new batteries, updated all software and rebooted every device several times.  Aarrgh!  Any thoughts?  Thanks.

If your laptop is on and close by it could be stealing the Bluetooth so your phone can’t connect.

This is is my second HA both from Costco. My first was made by Phonic as so is the Kirkland 9.0. The HA worked fone for most setting. The problem I had was with my iPhone 11. When connected to the phone and a call came in there was a lot of static of crackling or noise. this is a little odd as using phone apps like Pandora acted fine. I took the phone back to Costco several times for adjustment, but that would improve the situation a little but it was not permanent., and the crackling would continue. With the COVID-19, time was running out on returning the HAs with the 180 day return policy, I finally took them back. My old pair still work but with no phone app. I did have a recommendation for Philips HAs which are about 1000 more. so I may try those. I would if this could have been a loose part in the k 9.0s but will never know. Other functions of the hearing aid worked but am on the phone a lot!

I really wonder if others have noticed this about BlueTooth and iPhone 11 connection this model of HA.

Love the comment about can the 9.0s be connected with a computer? (I would really love it if they would stream audio from my iMac via a Mackie interface so I could use them in my recording studio!) Guitars and vocals would be miked up, as well as other tracks, all coming through my frequency tuned hearing aids! It would be such a joy to be free of headphones and hear the true sound without the burden of these large, bulky, headphones connected by an obtrusive coiled chord! That would be such a joy, the only way to know is to try! (I think!) What a songwriter's dream! I think it may be possible somehow. It would even make doing live gigs on FB, U~Tube way better, but then I still have to figure out, how to Zoom that! Need to make an appointment with Costco!

I am a dissatisfied customer.  It will be a year in August and even the slightest wind the intensity is overwhelming and causes unbearable headaches.  Adjusting the volume to different surroundings such as a crowded area.  I loose the hearing of a person I am standing next to.  Adjusting the column in a quiet place and a dog barks or a person walking in from outside the sound is piercing.  very dissatisfied with these.  I've resorted to my old hearings that have wonderful options of the setting I am in and absolutely no intense wind noise.  A shame I was not informed of these issues before I purchased them. I will be going back to try and resolve my issues.

I have worn KS 6 for about four years now.  Nearest Costcos are 60 miles west to Memphis or about 90 miles east to Nashville.  I am strongly considering upgrading to KS 9 because of the remote support capability.

I would love to hear from anyone else who has upgraded from KS6 to KS9 and can tell me if they saw an improvement.  Also would love to hear from anyone who has used the remote support feature (where Costco can remotely adjust the hearing aid settings).

Thanks - Fred

I have.had Kirkland signature 8’s for a year or more. Had to get a replacement due to bad rocker switch so I’ve been demoing the Signature 9.0 for a few days. While I was streaming music from Spotify to my sound bar at home, the Signature 9’s kept switching on and taking priority from the sound bar. That was annoying.

I am also experiencing hearing a distorted/raspy sound intermittently with my own speech. I.e. when I talk, it sounds gravely to me. Very annoying. I can’t wait my my Signature 8’s to come back from repair on Monday.

To the Poster who asked if Kirkland Signature 9’s are an upgrade from Kirkland 6’s, the answer is probably yes. But these Sig 9’s would not be my first choice.

I am searching for a GPS tracker for my KS9 HAs.  Does anyone know of one that will work?

When I am using the iphone mode for a call to come directly into my hearing aid ( KS 9.0) I can hear the incoming call very clearly, but the person on the other end of the call cannot hardly hear me at all.

I have got two questions:

- By now I am wearing an Starkey hearing aid and my hearing loss is severe going deep, this hearing aid would help me?

- I do not live in the USA and I want to know about the programming of the device, how would I do?
